Its seems there are two types of people on here (a bit of a generalization of course). The people who are pessimistic and moan about players and the team. And the people who think anyone being negative is the most evil horrible person in the world and must be proved wrong with urgency. Its an internet forum for crying out loud, nothing anyone says on here has any significance what so ever it will never ever effect the team so just lighten up a little bit. If you dissagree with someone tell them why. If you think someones being stupid just ignore them I'm so sick of countless threads crying about someone being nasty to our poor lovely footballers. Let's just debate the football and remember EVERYONE is entitled to their view even if they happen to be negative or just not particularly articulate.
Gaston, JRod and Lambert cost us about 23 mill between them...good value in anyone's books when you consider the 35 mill paid for Andy Carroll (who has also suffered from having a huge price tag round his neck). It's a team game.
Why? People are allowed to think that its a legitimate view. You may disagree (as I do) and the people saying this are probably wrong but why shouldn't they have the right to say so. Why can't people just say well I don't agree with you and here's why. Why does everyone have to act like these people are terrible people? I'd much rather have people feel free to say what they like on here.
Mainly because it is a group of men having an argument. Some men when disagreed with take it as a personal challenge. Nature of the beast.
Isn't that just the point of this thread, it is an opinion................ if it makes you sick why are you even bothering to contribute.....You have a right to an opinion the same as every one else, as does the OP. It works all ways..............The articulate method of criticism may indeed be questioned but not the act of the criticism itself.
Godders, no matter how much I agree with you on Ramirez, I struggle to take seriously a quote that includes "Lambert" and the word "chunky" in it, even if the author does express a good opinion of Ramirez.
I'm not acting like they are terrible people, I am pointing out (defending) the other side to their comments. Isn't this what the forum is about. I have been taking some stick for talking "garbage", when posting my opinion. All i have done is counter people's view and only in exasperation did I say that Impsaint showed some ignorance of my opinion when it didn't represent what I had said. I just didn't let go, that is all. The one mistake I did make was to call Oli a "muppet", for which I apologised. So in answer to you question, "why?"... because it is a forum and I don't like reading people criticsing players in an OTT or continual manner when my opinion is that it is not justified, so I counter it. Am I no longer entitled to do that?
Ok it doesn't make me sick I didn't mean that, perhaps bored to tears! I'm not trying to have a go I just don't think these threads contribute anything whatsoever apart from arguments. I wouldn't say for one second that people shouldn't be allowed to make threads such as these. What I'm trying to say is that I don't see why people feel like they constantly need to try and prove their point and disprove and have a go at others who disagree. It's the apparent self righteous tone of the 'positive people' which annoys me. Anyway not trying to have a go I just feel if people cherished the fact we have many broad opinions on here and debated and dissucsed the football in a grown up way it would be brill. We can hope...
Ok I think I misunderstood your post. You are by all means allowed to counter that's what I'm trying to encourage, and from what I've read of you you do so in a level headed mannner which is good. I thought your post implied that you were objecting to the very fact that people posted such things rather than just objecting to what they said which is a subtle difference. Appologies.
Ah, so because I am positive, I am also "self righteous". Nice. I don't mean to be. Just read your post above. Apologies back
No worries I wasn't implying you. Also I didn't mean to say people were self righteous. I meant there tone seemed as if because they were being positive there some how a more worthy fan (a self righteous tone). Now the thing is in some ways this is justified and by saying this I'm not trying to offend people. In the ground being positive DOES make you a better fan because the players can here it. They can't on here so criticising players doesn't make you a bad fan if you do it on here (although ironically I think its most often unwarranted). Thats ultimately why it annoys me and again I wan't trying to call people self righteous I just think some people allow the distincition between this forum and st marys to become blurred and this is what annoys me. Anyway I'm starting to confuse myself now. Apologies if I've offended anyone life is far to short to try and wind people up on the internet and that was certainly not my aim. I just feel as if sometimes this board spends more time squabbling than discussing the football (I realise my hypocrisy in saying this!)
Everyone should be entitled, indeed encouraged, to express an opinion. Even stupid people. The criticism of Ramirez is, in my opinion, evidence of the fact that an awful lot of people don't really know what they're looking at when they watch football, and will remain blind to his potential until he really begins to click in the team. Then they'll be proclaiming his genius. But that's only my opinion. To others, he just might be flattering to deceive. We'll see.
I wasn't meaning anyone's opinion or comments were garbage. It is the way that if you say anything construed as not 100% positive about Gaston then you are immediately attacked and labelled in the 'want rid' camp. It's more the attitude of many I was labelling as garbage. As for the Guly vs Ramirez comment above. People can chuckle over Guly because they accept he is a squad player. If Ramirez came off the bench every now and again rather than starting all the time we wouldn;t be having these discussions. + the above quotes from the papers. lol. bring them out as evidence when they suit the argument but if they said the opposite it would be 'lazy journalism'. I'm a bit bored with this now anyway. I have said what I think already.
I don't mind people having a different opinion, it's when that opinion is said about 20 times over it gets boring. We have so many Ramirez threads this season critizing him. He has probably had more threads then Guly did last season. Yeah I respect people have different opinions but when it's said over and over it gets annoying.
