Just in case some of you missed it. Clear as day. They fail to get a deal done and cast off blame to the other party or player to save face. The second window in a row West Brom has done this.
Maybe so but there is just too many similarities in how that operated in that window and what they are saying now. The club not releasing a statement or responding does give credence to what WBA is saying.
I think if WBA are telling the truth! Then we should maybe just say thats business! If we'd got long cheaper then we originally bid, we'd all be saying how well the Allams had done! It just made WBA,s mind I suppose?
WBA are well within their rights to pull the deal if they fail with their signings. Just like we would have never let Cairney and Evans out if we weren't sure of their replacement (I assume the Thudd and Livermore deals were a long time coming). The real question is why was the deal pulled. The club should issue a statement either way to clear it up once and for all.
NT! I don't know where the P came from! I don't think the club has disagreed yet so it looks like it's right.
Some evidence would be in documents with confidential information and some would be over the phone. I wouldn't think anybody wants to start producing a dossier of the events. WBA have given their version of events which differs from ours and we haven't challenged it.
Agree, but my point is that basic business principles still apply and the clubs that as on the bones of their backside - like us when we were last relegated - are the ones that think and trade otherwise
If it's true what WBA say - I wonder what Steve Bruce thinks. If we were short of money, then if I was him I'd be asking why we spent money on Gedo. That would have covered the short fall.
You are kidding, The Allams would not trust anyone else with their money. His club his money remember
Considering the difference in value of each deal, I don't think not signing Gedo would have made a shred of difference. I think a part of the reason for what happened could possibly be Long and/or his agent wanting a bigger signing fee than was expected and/or higher wages which the club couldn't match without changing the payment structure. Or maybe we couldn't afford the wage and asked west Brom to subsidise. Either way, I'm encouraged by this deal not happening, as to me it proves the hierarchy are being cautious and sensible and not committing to anything that could turn round and bite us right on the arse 12 months from now.
I don't see what is wrong with that. Look at what happened when Duffen was doing the deals. This isn't me having a go at you, but lets not lose perspective. 6.5m is a lot to gamble on a player. Ehab has already said that it was not a planned move, just a punt that nearly came off. I for one consider that we have done ok this window.
