It was 22 games in 1949/50 in Div 2.
I guess the run must have started in 48/49, given the run's end date - though 'last win' is ambiguous in a tale of unbeaten runs, should surely be 'last unbeaten game' ?
That quibble aside, there is lots more good stuff in Martin Tyler's answer, including the answer to the question, how many games more do we need to remain unbeaten for our longest-ever unbeaten Prem run .... the answer is ....
