Hello all.
I've just got back from a week in sunny Cornwall with some mates of mine. Weather held out and the local food and drink was excellent, so a good week all round!
However, I didn't have the internet, so I'm a bit behind in the football world. At one point on the beach I had a sneaky look at my phone, and saw the BBC Sport article about Gyan signing for Al-Whatever..
I'm sure this has been done to death a hundred times over, sorry to raise old points, but I was just wondering if anyone could talk me through:
A) Why he went? He was playing week after week in the best league in the world. Surely their standard of league is essentially Conference? What sort of footballer does that?!
B) Is there any way back? If not, surely his value in the European market will drop if we've loaned him out to a club where he won't score a goal of note at all? All we'll have on the 'selling points' will be 12-18 months old..
C) Most importantly. What the club is getting from it? Have we got a masssiiiiive fee up front or something? We've let our £13m record signing go for 12 months to play in front of crowds of about 300 in a bit-part league. Who the **** does that?! We must have got something in return?
Properly shocked me, I mean after the summer it was clear he wasn't here for the long haul, but £20m to Spurs in Jan would make a lot more sense to me than a season playing football in the desert!
