Outside the more obvious favourites of Martin O'Neil and Mark Hughes, I'd go for Ole Gunnar -from what I know of him, I think he'd be superb!
While I would not be unhappy with MON I know alot of Villa fans and their general thoughts on him were. Quite negative football Some stange team selections. Some very strange substitutions. Unable to break long winless streaks Sound familiar to anyone.
Shameless if a change is forced - I'd go a step further and put Solskjaer ahead of the current pack of the unemployed British brigade. I heard a detailed radio piece on his achievements both in Norway and United by an expert on Norweigan football and what he has achieved there has been frankly top drawer. Yes, there would be a risk, but we've also seen what can happen with taking the safe option on many occaisions at SAFC. I'd vote now for youth, hunger and ambition, together with a superb playing pedigree on which to call. And please no references to Keane - this boy is in a different league managerially to our dear departed.
I'd much prefer english clubs to go english where possible. However if Sunderland were to go foreign I think Solskjaer would be a good choice. All the signs are that he understands what management is about, and he has a sound knowledge of the english game.
I agree with you and feel he may very well be the best candidate - though I was not aware, until reading it here of his achievements in his native motherland. New, young and hungry first time managers often do very well. I think a lot of people have rejected him on here with a knee jerk reaction.
MoN is not for me - he spent a **** load of money at Villa and walked away when they refused to give him another 20 million just because they sold a player - Do you think Ellis would give him everything he wants@ I doubt it! Anyhow - SB is still our manager for the time being so I have to get behind the team he picks (PLEASE PUT RYAN NOBLE IN - HE SCORES GOALS FOR FUN AND SUNDERLAND CAN'T SCORE GOALS!!) Well only another 4 sleeps till matchday!!!!!!
