First half was depressingly like too much of our season, total domination , total failure to score from any of our chances, then a sucker punch from poor defending. The rustiness was there to see and RLC especially looked well short of pace as was expected. Christensen still looked tentative, Dave was lively but crossing poorly, but the team play was good and sharp for all that. Pulisic and our enigma Barkley livened things up, Pulisic scored well and Giroud got reward for his efforts. Excellent character and huge effort from all, not a bad restart and a great result. Both goals came from especially good work by Dave.
Very happy with the result baring in mind Villa had the benefit of a march 4 days earlier. Run out will make them sharper.
Yeah the first half performance was like the rest of the season, total dominance but not able to put our chances away. Hopefully the likes of Werner and Ziyech will be able to change that next season. The result is the main thing, and the fact that United dropped points. We needed to win that as our next match is gonna be sketchy as hell.
Just our luck to get City when they are absolutely flying. Still, we should be better for the Villa run out, so fingers crossed we can do the job again.
