There are literally no complaints to be had about "job stealing". If you want a job then you have to be better than the other people wanting the job. If there are people better than you who happen to be foreign then it's not their fault is it? You shouldn't be given preferential treatment based on which specific lump of land on this big space rock you were born on, there's no logic in that.

If a foreign person is in a job they didn't steal it. They didn't go around an English person's house at night and take it from their bedside table. They didn't sneak it from their handbag at the bar. They earned it.

Let's look at it in terms of football. Did Fonte and Hooiveld steal their way into the first team jobs for Southampton? No, they earned it by being the two best centre backs we have.

Nationality, skin colour, religion makes no difference to anything, least of all job aptitude.

that seems to be the typical view of many, but it is only applicable in certain circumstances, there are far more occasions when someone who wasn't born in this country or doesn't have english heritage is simply the better man or women for the job, nationality should have absolutely no influence

Good example that just because you CAN say something on the internet, doesn't automatically mean you SHOULD.

Or perhaps you'd like to share with us your family tree, so we can see at which point your family came from abroad as with the vast majority of "Englishmen"

For the record "people employ them because they're cheap lol" comments only apply to horribly underskilled jobs that literally anybody can do - otherwise employers will need somebody able to do the job to an acceptable standard. Besides if what they're working for is enough to live on, either settle for less than you demand or get more qualifications to find a job where you actually need skills.

Well saintsfan4life let me give you a little information. There are 1.1m Polish people in the UK. Their average earnings are £10.5k per annum. 43% of them work as cleaners. 27% of them work on production lines in factories. Are either of these jobs that you have applied for or, like the vast majority of our "homegrown" unemployed, are these jobs that you would rather not do? Any country that is not a part of the third world has immigrants fulfilling its menial tasks. They aren't "taking our jobs" they're doing jobs that we consider below us.

If you walk down the highstreet or into a bar, you will likely see teenagers (or people in their early 20's that are studying at uni) serving the food or refilling the stock. Not all will be white, but in southampton, where white people hold a large majority, most will be. I would suggest that rather than blaming foreigners for you not having a job, you take a look back and wonder how all of these white teenagers managed to get jobs before they were stolen off them. Maybe, it was because they were deemed best for the job, and beat the increased competition.

And a word of advice. I've interviewed probably hundreds of people for jobs over the years and what myself and my colleagues can spot instantly with a candidate is if he/she thinks the world owes them a favour. These people never get the job, regardless of nationality, race or religion, because they just don't make good employees.

I have a great deal of sympathy with your efforts to find a career/job. I myself came into the job market just after the full employment years of the 50-60's. When I left school there was nothing. No vacancies, nothing. Then Thatcher came to power and there was even less, if you'll believe it, as she shook out the dead wood, as the saying went. The dead wood being people's lives, of course, but that never matters, as long as it's for the good of the ol' country.

Work hard, try to make the most of your opportunities, but ultimately, DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO, even if that means you are poor of monetary assets. Then I can guarantee you'll be happier.

Blimey, got a bit profound there..!
