That sounds awful Ron, I really hope she recovers quickly.

A guy successfully killed himself doing this to a friends car I was getting a lift home in when I was 15 - it's a horrendous experience. I really hope Amanda isn't too badly hurt and doesn't feel too shaken up by it.

Best wishes Ron and a speedy recovery to Amanda. I find it imcomprehensible that people choose to include others when taking their lives, its the biggest form of selfishness imagineable.
It sounds like an awful accident but one that could have been so much worse. At times even in adversity we have to count our blessings.

A really good community Nass. And thanks so much everyone for the good wishes.

I have just spoken to Amanda. She has had a brain scan and her lungs have been checked out ok. Apart from being covered in blood and bruised from head to foot she seems to have escaped with broken ribs. The passenger door was pressed against her head; that's how mangled it was.

Those of you who have horses will probably understand what she told me about stallions. Yesterday, still suffering from her recent accident, she had ridden a big grey stallion. This stallion is always a bit frisky but yesterday he was as quiet as a mouse as if he was looking after her. Her arab stallion was the same. She says it's a stallion instinct to be very sensitive to things like that and seem to know that they must be careful not to hurt you. Amazing.

Can't wait to get home to see her.

terribly nerverwracking news. very best wishes from me too. hope she has a quick recovery and good luck with your home visit too.
 
Quick update following interview with police. The other driver lived near to the accident, came out of a turning and accelerated down the road on the wrong side towards Amanda on full beam. No swerving and no attempts to brake. He was uninsured, no driving licence, not wearing a seat belt and 6 times over the alcohol limit. It has been confirmed as suicide.

We now have some pictures of the 2 cars that will be uploaded soon if anyone is interested. Amanda had managed to swerve and just avoided a head on collision. She actually crawled out of the car herself (not as previously stated) because the car was smoking, whereupon she rolled into a ditch. She clambered out and went to see if the other driver was OK. Another fact I had wrong was that I said the passenger door was pressed against her. It wasn't the passenger door, it was the dashboard from the passenger side.

For those who are superstitious (or whatever the right word is) Amanda's grandfather died during the night 7 years to the day and her accident was 2.30 in the morning. The car was her grandfather's and we bought it when he died. His photo was in the glove box which almost ended up in her lap. Some say he was looking after her. Personally, I don't subscribe to that sort of belief but even I have to accept that it is freaky.
 
Just read this and my thoughts r with u and ur family Ron, go home and cherish them , as for the superstition I wouldn't completely rule it out as I've experienced simular unexplainable coincidences , just embrace them and thank which ever god u choose to believe in
 
Ron - only just seen this thread. Suffice to say my best wishes go to you and your family at what sounds to be a truly terrible time for you all. Like others i hope your daughter makes a full and speedy recovery.
 
Goodness me Ron I have only just seen this thread. I can only say thank goodness she escaped relatively unharmed- go home and look after her and dont worry about this forum one bit, the forum is meaningless in comparison.

FFS. I came home last Thursday to take over some work from Amanda, leaving the MIL in the hands of the carers (4 visits a day) and what happens? The bloody carers turn up an hour late and she tries to get herself up, falls over and ends up in hospital. My wife arranges a meeting in England to sort out the carers. But plonker yours truly goes and falls over and a massive swelling appeared instantly around the outside of my ankle. I thought something had snapped but didn't want to appear a wimp and have been hobbling around. Anyway, went for check up today and I have broken my fibula at the base and snapped a ligament. I'm now plastered from knee to toe and a nurse is going to visit me at home daily to give me injections. I have a check up in a week to see if it is mending OK. If not it will be pinned. Wife now has 2 invalids and can't go to England.

Amanda has another check up tomorrow. She thinks she's competing on Saturday. As I have said before, she is a nutter (and when I think of the 3 horrific accidents she has had in the last year or so, I think she must be made of steel).

Sorry to be a bore.
 
Jesus Ron ...................... I wouldn't bother buying a lottery ticket at the moment mate. Get well soon (all of you that is) and I hope your wife has a vigilant guardian angel ................... sounds like she's the only one who's remotely mobile at the moment
 
Ron they do say things happens in threes, So thats your 3 things over. Im sure things will turn around for you now mate! Give amanda all the best of luck for this weekend! And for you best hope you get well soon! You deserve some time to put your legs up (sorry about the pun) <somersault> But get well soon!

Ron, I was truly shocked when I first heard about the car accident, I felt sorry for the mother in-law, but I have to confess that I smiled a little at your misfortune. I'm glad Amanda is on the improve, I wish the MIL all the best, so I suppose I should do the same for you. Keep your chin up mate, but watch where you're hobbling. <laugh>

Ron: Christ, it is hard to imagine things getting any worse for you. However, glad to hear Amanda is getting better. I with you both a speedy recovery. Think it will be a long time before I ever moan again, about anything! All the best, and as has been said already, keep your chin up, things have got to change for the better.
