If a team was awarded more points, depending on the number of clear goals they won by, then more emphasis would be placed on attacking rather than sitting back on a slender lead. Equally, you could never be absolutely sure of teams' final points totals until the last game of the season has ended.

And Mourinho would be finished as a manager!
