He also wasn't interested in the Southampton job because he only wanted a big club, then went to the desert. As for Monk, he has previous of this with Oaulo Sousa. You'd find some extracts from his book on one of our threads. Some truly appalling behaviour <ok>

I respect your opinions guys, and I get your points, but you must accept that most outsiders will look on what he did at Swansea, from a facts and figures point of view, as good work. Everything else is mostly speculation.

36 points in 38 games is nothing. We were bottom of the 2014 table for basically every poor stat going. Laudrup never had an excessive budget, he had a plethora of injuries during lean spells, and in the economics of the premier league, Swansea punched above their weight under him and won a trophy. You can't debate that.

The morals of the man and whether he has a positive long-term affect on a club is something we can discuss all day til the cows come home, but we won't be any further forward until we see some tangible and credible information to decide one way or the other. The Mirror and Daily Mail most certainly do not count, nor does an obviously bias and wounded chairman. It's just an interesting/troubling potential issue for any club that signs him up.

The point is largely moot, because he'll never ever manage us, but there we go <laugh>

I reckon that the preferred option is probably McClaren and I think he might fancy it but is in a bit of a situation with Derby. It's just not really the done thing to leave a team pushing for promotion which would be massive for that club. I think out of the names touted he is the one i would feel most comfortable with. Potentially could be a really good fit. Garde is fairly interesting but is a lot more of an unknown quantity. Whatever happens I think we are stuck with Carver for the time being at least.

You dont want Laudrup im telling you. he won a total of 6 games in a season and a half and was sacked. the mess he left behind was dreadful but thank god we have a chairman that knew the only person to fix things and put us back to where we were before laudrup and that was our long standing captain garry monk...I have never witnessed a worst manager than Laudrup...( one of my favourite all time players though)

Interesting to read the contrasting reports from Swansea fans. Not for me Laudrup. I'm not sure he is all that and him/Mike would be combustible very quickly. He openly admitted he was pissed off with the club for not spending, tried to apply pressure through his agent. Does that really sound like a good mix with the lowest spenders in the top division?

Laudrup won't even want the job, let alone us not wanting him.

The real question is whether we ever actually intended to appoint someone...

    Valid question.

Another valid question... Do we have the worst owner in the premier league? Does anybody actually think there's a worse one?

    Pros:
    - Put us on an even financial footing (means relatively little to us, let's be honest. I hate keyboard warriors who orgasm over this point).
    - While spending very little on transfers, he bore the brunt of the relegation financial loss (again, snoozeville for the average fan).
    - Has overseen the incoming of talented players for exceptionally low prices
    - Match tickets are reasonably priced, one of the cheaper days out in the league.

    Cons:
    - Renamed the Stadium
    - Constantly taking from the club, with consistent refusal to reinvest.
    - Zero communication, ever.
    - The associated sponsorship ties with Sportsdirect
    - Wonga sponsorship
    - Odd managerial choices/yes men.
    - Excessive periods of waiting on information, like the appointment of a new manager.

Who exactly is his closest rival?! Allam? He's at least invested heavily in Hull, and while giving Steve Bruce money is akin to pissing batter against a wall, he's provided resources for promotion and premier league survival. He's trying hard to beat Ashley with the name change, but he's nowhere near the heaping pile of ****e sat in the board room at St James' right now.

Well, I am not sure Charnley could have given a worse answer, whilst simultaneously trying to give his best one!! Carver wants it, has effectively been told he's not getting it yet is expected to babysit a team in freefall with absolute enthusiasm!! You couldn't really make it up. Really think if this is the plan, we are going down.

The only thing that will prevent us from going down is there being three teams worse than us.

As seen from the Jack posts, opinion is split so I have dug out this article from RCD Mallorca which is just one of the articles the Mallorca fans pointed us to, and you will find so many issues similar to his last days at Swansea.

    Link: http://www.realmallorca.co.uk/news/...ent-sad-to-see-new-swansea-manager-laudrup-go

"It was all downhill for Mallorca following the transfer window as Mallorca picked up only 17 points from 19 games with Laudrup unable to restore any confidence in the team. On the final day of the season it looked like Mallorca would be relegated, but thanks to results elsewhere, Mallorca just about clung onto their La Liga status. It was widely reported that the fans wanted Laudrup out, as did the board, but the financial crisis at the club meant they could not afford to sack him. Laudrup felt that he could improve the team in his second season in charge much to the annoyance of the people who wanted him to graciously walk away from the club.

The start of Laudrup’s second season would be no better as Mallorca lost 3 of their opening 4 games and lost their star player, Jonathan de Guzman, to Villareal – another player who was once again not replaced. Laudrup’s assistant manager Erik Larsen berated the Mallorca hierarchy (he called Serra Ferrer a ‘bad man’) in relation to the de Guzman transfer and soon found himself sacked by the club for gross misconduct. The sacking of his assistant was the final straw for Laudrup and he resigned on the 27th September 2011 after beating Real Sociedad 2-1 in his final game, citing frustration with Serra Ferrer in particular. Laudrup stated: “This situation cannot continue like this. From now on, Mallorca will be whatever it is Serra Ferrer wants.”

Laudrup’s managerial credibility would be called into question further after he departed Mallorca, as new manager Joaquín Caparrós led the cash-strapped, relegation threatened team to the brink of a European place, largely brought about by a switch from Laudrup’s attacking philosophy to a ‘win at all costs’ approach."

His managerial record is not one of loyalty. Brondby 2005 - left 2006 Getafe 2006 - left 2008. Spartak Moscow 2008 - sacked 7 months Mallorca 2010 - left 2011. Often linked to big teams but never gets them. A tendency to leave if the board do not give him his own way.......................<cheers>

Frying pan face will be telling any interested management that the coaching staff is already in place.
