I dont agree with all you guys about John because if i was him I'd have been sick of idiots claiming they support the team moaning in the stands because there is no point it's ridiculous. Either pay support the side or **** off. I ****ed off.

I just had a horrible thought. Paul Jewell relatively inexplicably left West Brom after one week.....

Oh, fook. It is, isn't it?

It could be but not that him leaving there the way he did would be a sign. He has engaged his solicitors for that one...

I can only think either Pulis preferred option has become available - Gerry Francis - or Jewell has upset someone Pulis needs.

I just think the club will get it horribly, deliberately wrong. I keep trying to think outside the box to soften the shock, remembering when jobless League One hopeful Pardew was given the keys to the kingdom. The pictures on the other thread promoting the likes of Avram Grant I feel will be closer to the truth than all this guessing about Remi Garde being unavailable til May. So I think they'll get someone in, there'll be no "backroom team" coming with them, so it's someone out of work, some low rent nobody who probably hasn't seen a football club since 2010.

I suppose I'm just trying to aim as low as possible, so at least I might say "well, at least it's not Gary Megson...."

To be fair I think that's just Gary Lineker having a tongue and cheek go at Ashley.

This month, next month, 3 months from now... Don't think it matters when Carver will be appointed, for it is he who shall be given the job!

I see this as an audition period. Mike doesn't much care, he certainly wasn't flying back from his holiday to keep his man Pardew, and likewise he certainly wouldn't interrupt it to rack his brains on a replacement. Carver will prove himself a safe pair of hands so long as he doesn't lose too many in a row, and so long as he keeps his mouth shut on Ashley, the direction of the club, and the players at his disposal.

Trouble for Carver is, he's a big mouth. If he sellotapes it or gags himself for a few weeks, he'll be the next manager, I'd bet Albert's saggy bare-arse on it!

What worries me here is that Mr Tiote is normally right.

Well Michael Laudrup has shot in to as low as 5/1 from 66/1 today. Hypothetically (its only bookies odds) how would anyone feel about Laudrup?

I do not see it working. Strong characters need not apply here! If you don't present your arse for weekly back-filling, then you don't stand a chance of lasting more than a few months.

If Ashley is leaving, as has been muted, he'll appoint Carver. If Ashley has reconsidered his tenure here, in an incredibly unlikely event, then he might appoint someone with pedigree, but this is entering the realms of myth and fantasy.

I'm a fan of Laudrup, though the stories coming out of Swansea were terrifying after he left, especially ones about him taking little interest in actual work.

    He's better than Carver.

I'm not keen on the idea of Laudrup at all but accept it will be a hell of a lot worse. The problem is separating what you'd want from what you fear will the case. Two polar opposite things

Exactly what I thought. The only manager I want in the confines of this regime is McLaren. Problem with that is you only have to cast the odd glance at the perhaps less-well-informed websites to find McLaren laughed off and derided by more than a few as the Brolly Wally. It's like a Sun headline is a moral guide.

Outside of him, I don't know anyone who is safe, a coach, and with enough renown to still make NUFC appealing. That said, we put up with Pardew for years and still managed to watch Cabaye, Debuchy, Colo, Sissoko, and more pull on the jersey.
