The upper tier of the South Stand didn't hang over the lower one so it isn't exactly identical. You could say in that case that every two tier stand was identical. After going there for the Cup Games in the 1970s I wish the South Stand had been like that as the overhang stopped a lot of noise drifting away like happened with the South Stand. BTW the Gelderd End at Elland Road was based on plans used for tbe South Stand. Revie was that impressed with our ground when Leeds played Sunderland here that he got the same architects to submit plans during using the ones they did for the South Stand but without seats. I wish that had been done at City so we didn't have seats behind both goals. He also had the floodlights at that end made the same night as BP. Prior to that the lights at Leeds were awful, it was bad enough to cause eyestrain. Improvements in bulbs meant other towers weren't built to that height. It meant for a while that ourselves, TWS and another club had the heighest pylons in Europe, though only we had 6. I think it was Man City who eventually ended up with the tallest. I lived in Leeds at the time and those things gave me a pathetic response to when comparison were made about League positions, crowds etc.
No. Seeing as the city of culture is to give a boost not renowned for tourist attractions and visitors and those places get so many that most of them would be happy with a decrease rather than an increase.
It was the catalyst for a £25m redevelopment of the city centre, there's also new venues and significant private investment in city centre property and the development of places like Humber Street, along with the addition of major new hotels (including Hull's first 4 star hotel). A £32m direct investment in the arts, for the staging of the shows, development of venues etc. An estimated £65m increase in revenue in the city, as a direct result of CoC visitors and events. Unemployment has fallen, there's been a significant increase in new businesses, a drop in the number of empty shops (though there's still far too many) and the most significant thing of all is the improvement in the profile of the city and the increased pride of those who call Hull home.
