Were never going to win the league so a win in a cup is what we should be aiming for. We must stay in the league but finishing 12th is very possible at the moment and would be a marked improvement on last season.
Just surviving relegation every year means we can't plan for the following season until May. This puts us behind club like Swansea who will already be talking to agents about possible signings. This is why our signings are often poor, we get what's left.
What do you class as "older"? My 10 year old son said to me "Why are the semi finals played at Wembley? It should be for the big game like the league cup" - and the FA still insist it's better - Hiullsborough, Old Trafford - central to the country and much easier commute. I can;t afford 2 trips to Wembley this season - if we get to the Semi I'd have to miss it out in case we got to the final! If it was at OT I could get a free room at my mate's house in Bolton and drive there - my Brother in law lives in Sheffield so same for Hillsborough. Ticket prices are extortionate!! We do have to get through the next 2 first!!
Semi's should be at 2 large neutral grounds. Villa, OT, Anfield, Goodison, even grounds like Middlesborough or Derby would be decent for cup semis. Take bias out of it and say it was Newcastle vs Leeds then Borough would be perfect for that. Why the FA can't use a bit of common sense is beyond me. I am lucky living in the midlands in that regard but for lads who live in the NE a trip to London is an expensive and long trip to make.
Boro only holds 30000 though so not big enough. Sunderland and NEwcastle are both big enough. Get the southern twats up here for a game and show them what WE have to go through to get to the games at wembley! Man U, Villa, Sheff Weds, ****ing hell there are loads of better places to play semi's
