We don't want players that are ok, we want ones that are good. It doesn't matter that Maguire isn't pacy, he's a centre half, he doesn't half to be.

I can understand people are fed up of daft goals going in past McGregor, but what kind of logic goes through your head to conclude that the answer is to replace him with Jakupovic? Yes McGregor seems to **** it up every other game nowadays, but Jakupovic ****s it up every game!

    Not half!

But seriously, if he's in a back four with Dawson, then yes, he needs to be pacey. Dawson needs a complimentary presence, I reckon.

On another note, the fact that the last two people have picked Jakupovic says a lot about how little faith people have in McGregor. I'm a bit worried about the position - I hope we sign the Southend lad or loan a keeper.

Let's hope we don't pair him and Dawson together then

I like the 4-3-3, though I'd play Aluko on the right over Clucas, (though that might be in part because I know little about Clucas).

I reckon Bruce will go 4-4-2, though. Taylor has been bought to play. Robertson might be outstanding in the Championship. I'm very optimistic.

Admittedly my memory is not as sharp as it once was now that I am in my late seventies but I would challenge you to document that assertion of Jakupovic ineptitude in "every game" with specific examples. I know that some seasons ago he had a howler against I believe Sheffield Wednesday that was the start of this urban legend, and I remember a hasty clearance against Southampton (due largely to a poor Brady back pass) going straight to a Southampton midfielder who drove it back into our net from 40 yards (McGregors clearance in the Europa league which was also promptly rammed into our goal was far worse btw). I also remember him misjudging a long ball which went over his head in a pre-season friendly.

Apart from those errors Jakupovic has played well in his few Premiership outings, far better and less mistake plagued than McGregor who seems incapable of handling low shots to the corners and long range drives on a disturbingly frequent basis. If my memory is mistaken please feel free to set me straight with specific examples. Its time to put this issue to bed.

First game of the season & Bruce will be desperate not to lose, rather than setting out for a win. I think it will be a cautious team unfortunately. McGregor Elmo Bruce Dawson Davies Robertson Meyler Hudd Hayden Clucas Jelavic.

You've listed a few errors there, there was also another cross that flew in over his head away at Leyton Orient, in the same week as the infamous Wednesday incident.

For a keeper that's only ever played about 10-15 games for us, to have single-handedly cost us a goal 5 times is incredible. If he'd played as much as McGregor has, I dread to think how many times he'd have done it by now.

Oh and when McGregor ****s up, he doesn't pretend to be injured to get out of the firing line.

    For Saturday:

    McGregor
    Taylor Dawson Maguire Robertson
    Elmo Meyler Huddlestone Clucas
    Aluko Jelavic

Subs: Jakupovic, Davies, Bruce, Hayden, Jahraldo-Martin, Luer, Akpom

I think it'll be very different by the end of the window though

3-5-2 is a thing of the past with Dawson, he's too slow, still a great player in a four man defence. I think there is only possibly Davies now can handle 3-5-2 now that Chester has gone as Maguire isn't quick either

Jakupovic came out after a match saying how nervous he gets before games, the last thing we need is a a goalie who can be got at early doors. That Southampton match showed him up really. We need another keeper urgently.
