My parents would just call it a "Pack-Up" neatly side stepping their misuse of Dinner and Tea. I've given up on must Hull'isms and conform to common usage to avoid confusion.

No, I said a S H I T dinner. Or a picnic. Personally, I just say I'm having sandwiches.
If you take sandwiches to school, the ladies serving and patrolling the tables are dinner ladies.
Schools I went to called it dinner time.

Yeah I know you said that, some might suggest to sidestep use of the massively accepted term across the English speaking world of 'packed lunch'.
And just saying "I'm having sandwiches" doesn't do justice to your Frazzles and Um Bongo.
Frazzles and Um Bongo - Does Um Bongo even exist anymore. I never had sandwiches at School, in fact hardly anyone did.
Um Bongo, Um Bongo the still drink it in the Congo.......
I always had a pack up at school because apparently we weren't poor enough for free school dinners but we were to poor to pay for them.
Where did this 'school' element come from? I never ate at school, I came home every day.

No, I work from home. Or I'm out on the open road, so I'll buy sandwiches for dinner whilst out. When at home I often pop out for dinner to Fields in Anlaby or James Patrick in Hessle - Great sandwiches.
Hope you're making them walks to the boozer more regular Doc. It's an important part of your recuperation programme.
My spesh recommended a gallon of gargle, regularly
School dinners were 4 pence halfpenny in my Junior school. Loved them and even went during school holidays when they were available.
