I want to see the Deeney/Vydra partnership at work again and hope that it can be a success once more. That depends on the head coach to a large extent using them in the best way. I still think that it will be silly money paid if Deeney goes.
Obviously Deeney value to you is going to be alot more then he market value so I can't see him leaving for anywhere unless he pushes a move through.
He won't be pushing a move through. He is happy where he is and will only move if the price is right. He knows he has plenty of time ahead of him to make a move.
I'm not saying he will. Why push through a move to Leicester where he knows he won't be first choice. Good striker at this level maybe good enough for the prem but with Ulloa, Vardy, Nugent and Wood to compete with he will be rotated alot Another line you might be interested in Meanwhile, reports that Watford have bid for City midfielder Andy King are inaccurate. The Hornets did make an enquiry about King’s availability but they were told he wasn’t for sale and is very much in manager Nigel Pearson’s plans. When comparing Ulloa to Deeney on age and also Ulloa's record last season to Deeney's past two if you got him for less than Ulloa it would be good business for you but would you invest so much in two untried Premiership strikers? probably not.
Talk of another bid, and another rejection. This time £7.5m; http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/11356487.Watford_reject_another_Leicester_bid_for_Deeney/ Will be interesting to see if there comes a point where Troy requests to speak to someone.
Can see him ending up going for more than Young did (9.5 million?) which would be astounding really. I know there's been a bit of change in the last few years but that would be insane money, anything more than 8.5 million would be top business IMO.
7 or 8m + King & Woods? Maybe that's why we were fishing for King the other day? Hope he doesn't go but everyone has their price.
well said but our owners know football very well. if we keep him and he has a bad year so he is only worth say 4m they they have lost 6m .if we keep him and we go up how much has his value as well as the clubs value gone up ? time is running out unless they see a replacement already lined up or troy says he would like to talk with other club .then he stays .AND WE ARE GOING UP
I would hope that the Pozzo's see TD as our best chance of getting up. Again, though admittedly a 'bigger' club than us I still feel that Leicester is more a sideways move than a step up. It is the promoted clubs that are after him thus far, not the established ones. I'll start to worry about losing him if the likes of, say, West Ham/Newcastle/Villa start putting £8m+ on the table... then we may struggle to keep him. On the other hand, he may just consider Vydra's lamentable season last year and stay put! That'd be brilliant.
I suspect we might be willing to match the Ulloa deal with Deeney which is 8M up front with 2M in add ons depend on us staying up and him scoring goals The 8M+King and Wood is laughable as both players are valued around 2-3M each King wont leave but Wood will if we sign another striker
If you look at their forum you will find people who think he should not be playing football and they don't want him.
What you have just paid for Ulloa who is a year older and only scored 16 goals last season in all competitions means for a younger striker who has hit 49 Championship goals in past two seasons will cost you over 10 million up front with probable add ons. Its Leicester who have set a bench mark now with their own purchase.
At the end of the day is pointless saying Deeney is worth this amount and we will only accept that amount. It's up to the club to see whether we can agree a fee obviously depending on if Deeney wants to come which no one knows at this point. Yes we have overpaid for Ulloa but that's partly because Fulham stupidly did for McCormack. Once 1 players goes for a stupid price your always going to compare your striker to that and want something along the same lines Deeney is never worth anything over 5M but because he is really important to you there will be a premium to pay on top of what you really value him at If Deeney wants to come and the current bid stands at 7.5M I suspect we wouldn't be far off agreeing a fee
Proud Fox, I agree with a lot of what you say, but our owners are well known over many years of getting high prices for players. Because of this they are always at the top of the league for annual profit. So far there is no indication that Deeney is unhappy at Watford and he seemed to be excited when it became clear that his striking partner Vydra was coming back. I would be very surprised if the owners let him go for £7.5M, but when you see a Championship player going to another one for over £10M, then I suspect that is nearer to their valuation. I doubt that Leicester would want to pay that sort of money, so maybe it is time to look elsewhere.
