We were 12th when Warnock left and finished 13th so I can't see how people can say McDermott saved us from relegation. Why will Murphy get better but Adomah won't?
Josh v Reading 12 attempts 1 on target 0 goals v Bolton 11 attempts 2 on target 1 goal v QPR 11 attempts 2 on target 0 goals v Ipswich 9 attempts 3 on target 2 goals v Sheff Wed 13 attempts 5 on target 1 goal v Leicester 10 attempts 0 on target 0 goals That's 4 goals in 67 attempts in your last 6 games mate - I don't think the converting is too hot to be honest
Not being funny, but stats only tell half the story... If you create clear cut chances then you are more likely to hit the target let alone score. We are creating near-on impossible chances and are shooting and missing the target.
Come on Josh you are digging a bit of a hole for yourself, our conversion rate is abysmal, we are creating little and the little we are creating is wayward and not good enough. We have probably the worst attack pairing in the top 10 teams. Varney and Hunt, it is absolutely shocking. I do like the manager but if January comes and goes and we are still in the same position with the same woeful partnership up front then I will be calling for his head. He spent our entire budget on a central midfielder and then wasted wages on Smith and Hunt, at this very moment in time that is how I am seeing it.
So the McD bashing has already begun. God help him if we don't beat Burnley. Will some people ever learn. This is three consecutive managers operating on shoestrings while the likes of arry splashes the millions yet we are supposed to challenge at top of division. Club needs major investment simple as. What is the point in pointing out bad signings like smith. Of course he's useless. He cost nothing and wages are like a pittance. Every manager makes bad signings as well as good. Bluenose even did it on numerous occasions and he could afford to flitter away millions on his duds. What wingers or top strikers were available for a million plus the moderate wages we seem to offer? Can someone please name a few. This is the first season in a decade the club has moved forward but not fast enough for most of us seemingly. I'm as impatient as anyone on here but bashing the manger at this point just seems ridiculous to me
It's ridiculous. We are not going to be able to buy success, the journey to the promised land is a long one, and will be completed in small steps. If you want instant success then go follow citeh of chelscum.
Your missing my point though, sign someone creative to replace Ross in his position and chuck him upfront. Either way though, we need to deal with one problem at a time. Give the strikers the service and see whether they can start to convert chances (bearing in mind Ross will be upfront at this time). If we still need a striker then sign one, no point signing a striker when there is no real quality of service. I haven't bad mouthed any signings that have been made, we are going forward and I have no issue with that. I have no expectation that we wil get promoted this season however this is a thread on what position we need to replace/fill most.
If we were to sign just one player on loan, I'd say the top priority would be a pacy winger as we just don't have anyone in that mould in the whole squad. Really don't think the priority is an out and out goal scorer. If we end up signing no one then stick McCormack up front and use Diouf as the creative player behind the front two.
It depends on how you define McD bashing? Am I pleased with his appointment - Yes Am I pleased he spent virtually the entire budget on Murphy - Undecided Am I pleased he signed Wootton - Yes Am I pleased he signed Murphy - NO and I said so before he even kicked a ball Am I pleased he signed Hunt - NO see above Am I pleased he turned down Burke for £600k - No BUT I can see why some would disagree with me He will make mistakes and he will get things right, I am just sitting on the fence at the moment wondering why he hasn't signed a creative spark we so badly need and why he never signed one decent striker instead of Hunt and Smith. Anyone expecting us to finish above 8th this season will be in for a disappointment as things stands. Forget this nonsense that we don't need a 20 goal striker because without one we are staying put.
Ristac, what i am trying to say is I don't think it'd be all that possible for us to have a 20+ goal scorer with our current lack of creativity.
I agree but I also feel give us some creativity and Hunt and Varney are still not going to bag 20 goals - I think we are a good 2-3 players short and I don't think we are going to have the funds to obtain the sort of quality we need.
