It was a free kick as Barton did make contact - I wouldn't argue that the officials had a poor game though, Villa had a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside and they should have had a penalty when Stevie Taylor pushed Bent over in the box.

 

As **** a ref as Atwell clearly is, I don't hold him responsible for our inept performance today. We were poor and had no decent attempt on goal till the 88th minute. We just need to dust ourselves down and put in decent performance on Tuesday.

joker - I disagree, I think Bent's effort was offside - his right foot was off....

 

Villa were the better of two crap teams.

Thought the ref did ok.

Joey shouldnt be captain he was like Cattermole was yesterday all fired up, running round like a headless chicken and just arguing with the ref.

 

After a while of thought time and calming down as I was very annoyed after the match! I think that overall we were just completely average. Maybe this team would have won 2/3 last year but that was in the Championship, there was no cutting edge at all. Barton shouldn't be captain as he just gets riled up imo.

But in the main i'm not too worried as with Tiote, Nolan, Ben Arfa, Ireland, Ameobi & Best in the team I feel we would have won...

 

Ref got the decision for the free kick wrong but, Bent looked onside to me and they probably should have had a penalty, mind u Bent could easily have been booked and sent off for persistent diving.
