I'd say no to Suarez. Definite no. You want someone who you know will be there week-in and week-out, which he gets suspended too often. You also want someone who is a good role-model for the younger players on the team to look to, and that's obvious why he doesn't fit that role. I'd have Reina, Hendo, Lucas, or Agger. Anyone of those I could see taking it and doing a good job. Hendo or Reina would be my personal choices, Reina first, but if you want an outfield player, Hendo has captained the U-21 England squad for quite a while. Plus, he never gives up.

I think that is a red herring. Sure he has had two lengthy bans but if ignore these two incidents, he has a very good disciplinary record. He has only missed a couple of games in two and a half seasons through genuine suspensions. We (the club) just need to help him mentally.
Yes we need to help him but he needs to help himself too. He shows no signs of learning from his mistakes.
To answer your question as to why I'd hate him to get the vice-captaincy now...
A) He hasn't been at the club long enough
B) He has shown a total lack of maturity since he's been at Anfield
C) There are better more deserving candidates.
D) Working hard on the pitch should be a given.
E) I personally don't want a vice captain who screams in a young players face for not passing him the ball (Sterling in the derby at Goodison).
F) It could cause a lot of resentment amongst the players like Pepe, Agger who have earned a shot at it.
Suarez at the moment can't even help himself so no way should he be given the responsibility of helping others. If he can sort himself out and grow up then maybe in a couple of seasons but for me he's way off that point yet.
This. Why give the captaincy to a hard worker? Everyone should be busting their nuts just to play for the shirt. Hendo is a very hard worker, but can't see him being given captaincy (just yet). Suarez doesn't deserve the armband for these reasons.
Reina is the obvious choice but might not stay. So I reckon Lucas would fit the bill. Wasnt convinced he would last long at Liverpool in that first season. Cant say Isaw a lot of him but heard a lot of annoyance from Liverpool fans/media.
However since then, he has acted very professionaly, especially during his nasty lay off and the matches I have seen of him he is a classy player.

As much as I agree, do professional football players see it the same way? I say we reward players that put in the level of work that Suarez does. Can't argue with many of Billy's points but will add that the captaincy puts responsibility on a players and sometimes makes them grow up. However, since Suarez as been captain at other clubs and for his country, I can't see that happening.
I just want to find out if the people who voted for Johnson are actually being serious or not...

As a club we reward him with a big fat wage, goal bonuses, new contracts, basically anything he could wish for (apart from warmer bloody weather). It's his job mate so he should work hard....players who don't should be shot at dawn........(omg I've turned into Di Canio

Yes he does work exceptionally hard and I'm grateful for that, we all love to see him snapping at players heels (not shoulders) and unsettling them. Rushie used to be the best at it and it can be massively unsettling for defenders especially those trying to play football from the back. However it isn't enough IMO to give any player the captaincy (or vice captaincy) on that alone because they should all be working that hard...and in fairness, as **** as we've been at times this season we are a hard working team.
If he stays here, can behave himself and just settle down and play footy (what he's best at) then yes he'd have to be a contender

I wasn't saying to give him it for that only. He is our best player who leads by example (maybe not the non-footballing parts though
).TBH, I don't disagree with anything you or LT has said, he can be a liability and there is no way I'll ever condone screaming at a youngsters for not passing the ball. I think he would make for a good captain if his mental issues where resolved. Part of me thinks it would be funny to watch the world end on his appointment too though

All traits that Carragher possessed but a lot seem (including me) to think he has been our true leader for the last so many years.

I can see where you're coming from with regards to the shouting at teammates for not passing. However, perhaps that's what we need - someone to be vocal and actually have a go at teammates for making mistakes - just like Carra.
I do see his reputation as being the biggest barrier as it will damage his reputation with referees - I reckon Gerrard influences referee decisions because of his name and reputation and that plays a big part. I believe the likes of Rio do the same and to some extent Terry (I know he has a rep but he's a 'British Lionheart' who can do no wrong) and also the ability to communicate effectively in English will play a part. I still think Suarez is learning the language so his communication skills may still under development.
