To us happy clappers, anyone moaning persistently every time something isn't 100% is out of order, our answer is to think "ooops.never mind, it will be better next time, come on you reds", what's wrong with that, I feel better being a disappointed happy clapper than some one who has a permanent black cloud over his head even when the Sun is shining, it just that we are different in our outlook, there are no fixed ruled on the subject.

Trouble is this not really about a team underperforming is it it is about a manager who in the CEO's view was not up to taking the next step forward. The reasons behind the dismissal have now been explained. We have all analysed the reasons as well as showing our distaste of the decision he made. The difference seems to be from the statements you have made you want to dwell on it where as the majority do not. Most that disagreed had there moans at the time but we cannot do anything about it so have had to move with the tide. Most of the fans support the lads that play in the team and just want "The Saints" to do well no matter what the politics. They do not deserve to be criticised by anyone because they have chosen to move on.

I think that the OP is about how someone can have an initial reaction and then upon reflection, change their mind and apologise. This process does require the capacity to imagine that you might not be right about everything, all of the time. Anyone who has contempt for those with different opinions (in the pub or elsewhere) is unlikely to have that capacity.

Pretty much. When it became clear that Nigel's sacking was imminent, I posted something to the effect of "you best know what the **** you're doing, Nicola". It would very much appear that he did indeed know what he was doing.

I still don't understand people that say 'the way Adkins was sacked was disgusting' etc, we don't know how he was sacked. We don't know if he was told nicely or harshly and we will never know.

Yeah but typical predictable stories like "escorted off the premises by security while crying" came out through Twitter so obviously it's true.

I'm just going to chuck this out there, I don't think think it was one of those whimsical happy sackings. But, I believe in moving on, as does Nigel, so I vote we wait for an autobiography before having more kittens.

Pretty much agree with all of this. To summarise, NA's efforts should not be forgotten, but at this kind of level (one that was new to NA), but that MP has at least had 3-4 years experience of, it's noticeable that NA never consistently mastered the balance of attack and defence. Barring a couple of exceptions, when we were good at one we were generally poor at the other. In the 4 games MP has been with us (bearing in mind it's still a small sample size, and that it's by no means perfect as yet) there has certainly been an upgrade regards our confidence that we can attack with vigour while also still defending pretty stoutly, or certainly have a balance of the two that has more consistency than we have ever previously experienced.

Our highest ever finish in Premier League history is 8th with 52 points. Would be really interesting if we could beat that in the next season or two with the aim of recreating the dizzy heights we enjoyed in the early to mid 80's.

Ha yeh, people will soon be calling Pochettino out if Saints don't pick up 4 points in the next 3 games.

True rj, on the other poll there's only 2.5% of the vote saying we'll get 3 or less points from those games which is a definite underestimation in probabilistic terms, in fact bookmakers would make it around 45% likely that that be the case.

If you believe the bookmakers, they make it around about the following based on the odds of our next 3 matches....

    9pts - 3.2%
    7pts - 8.5%
    6pts - 13.5%
    5pts - 7.2%
    4pts - 22.3%
    3pts - 18.9%
    2pts - 8.6%
    1pt - 12.3%
    0pts - 5.5%

Averaged - 3.81pts haul for the three games.

If you don't and think they've underestimated, you really should be backing saints with your hard earned! ;-)

leave Nicola alone, apart from having a chicks name he's doing great. All this pony about the horrible way he sacked Nigel is getting on my tits. Nigel decided dean Hammond wasn't what he wanted, so binned him. That's exactly what Nicola did to Nigel. Its not nice, but its business.

Think that sums it up. Sacking Nigel was a business decision end of.
