We can always rely on our less fortunate neighbours at times like this Did I see you write that you weren't a Geordie on here the other day? What's your connection to NUFC and the north east then?
I wouldn't worry about being ****e, it seems the vast majority of the league is! The way this crazy **** is panning out, you'll probs beat City away, Liverpool at home, then lose to Villa
Correct mate. My story of supporting Newcastle is a weird one. When I was 6 years old, my family relocated to the outskirts of Paris for my dads work. We moved into an expat area where everyone spoke English . Our next door neighbours at the time, had a lad who was the same age as me and we became best mates. He, and his family were from the North East. Dad was a mag, mum was a mackem. Everytime I went round to their house, I was coerced into watching old videos of Newcastle playing and we would get special BBC coverage of Match of The Day that I would watch. Over time I ended up falling in love with football and Newcastle United. We moved back to England (York) when I was 8, demanded we go to a match and everyone made a huge fuss over me and my first game. Fell in love with the area after that and that was it! For what it is worth, be it Sunderland or Newcastle, there is no place like it. The people make it. My experience on both wearside and tyneside (and the fact I am not from the area) mean that I like both clubs and areas and would always want both to stay up and do somewhat well but my heart belongs to Newcastle. Bit of a blurb there but might explain my connection and why I tend not to WUM on here quite so much, Not a story I tell many people (don't think VJ even knows the full story) but there it is .
Well thanks mate, I appreciate that. That's a cracking story and fair play to you for continuing your support from afar. Don't worry, nobody will call you a glory hunter for it You should have listened to his bliddy mother though
In my opinion I thought Chelsea were poor....it's just we were worse. It was crucial to get through the first 20 mins as and as the game went on relied on their players getting nervous and also this passing on into the stands. So in true Sunderland fashion we find ourselves 2 down after 11 mins.....we don't have that mental steel in the side or resolve to get us through patches like this. You can see in the second half as soon as we put pressure on them they started to 'wobble'. If Defoe or Borini had put away one of the earlier chances in the second half I honestly think we would have got a point. PVA was back to doing what PVA does best. He was a liability today as well as Toivenon and Rodwell in midfield. I think Rodwell just get his customary booking just to let us know his is still on the pitch. Was it the wrong team and formation....yes...Big Sam admitted that after the match. I don't have an issue with Sam because he is exactly what we need. He is having to work with the cards he has been left with. Sometimes I think if he has 6 subs to use in a game it's still not enough. Two weeks running we have had to use a sub after 20 mins so we are throwing away options for later in the game. We all know our transfer dealings in the past has been woeful and it's coming back to haunt us know. For what we got over the Summer was ok but still well short of what was needed. Before Defoe arrived for a couple of seasons we have had to carry a strike force of Altidore, Fletcher, Graham and Wickham....jeez, Our history of escapes is certainly going to come under severe pressure towards the end of this season. I'm hoping Sam can work his magic in the January window. We have so much crap to move on but we need players in to do the business of survival first. It's going to cost money in bring in new blood with little prospect of shipping the crap out in January....I hope Short understands that. I think if he backs Sam that will certainly be a big positive step in the right direction...if he doesn't then Sam will have to do it in the Championship...
****ing aweful. Im watching it now. First half done. Dont think ive heard pundits slag a team of so much. But i guess they are correct when they say embarrassing. Second half should be fun...not.
The problem with four at the back with only one decent DM is that JoS is exposed and when he is we are sunk, not only Chelsea at there best, but most of the premiership would make mincemeat out of our back four of BJ JoS --- PVA, so Sam had little choice, and the options available in midfield yesterday were OT and JR, I rest my case.
