Glad you put this. I was a bit confused by twitter, saw the tweet from him but then other people seemed to be implying that he was not in the "Hall of Fame". Glad he has some backbone, not sure if Barmby is in the HOF but think he would be another one who would not go anywhere near. Such a sad state of affairs.
It just makes me laugh when the official twitter account is 'Hull City' , did that get changed or has it always been that ?
The 'Tigers' Hall of Fame is not changing by the way, despite many people letting the club know their feelings, including the panel they appointed. I expect some involved in the panel will be stepping down, corporate members have refused to attend due to the name and the last I heard they'd sold less than a third of the tickets. They're absolutely ****ing clueless.
So how does it work. Is Ashbee in it or is it only ones that confirm themselves as guests that can be in the Hall of fame. Still not clear how it works. I know he was mentioned as being in the Supporters Trust Hall of Fame but I guess the club are doing their own.? I see someone on Twitter has called for an Ashbee chant at 4 minutes tonight.
Amazing that they can turn something which is a good idea into something so divisive by refusing to use the actual name of the club
Something I said earlier, call it an olive branch, a bridge to build, whatever there was a chance for things to get better and they have squashed it, the petty vindictive childish ****s that they are.
It never ceases to amaze me that everything (and I mean everything) the club does turns to **** and alienates yet more people - the phrase 'reverse Midas touch' doesn't come close to describing their efforts.
Hull City Supporters' Trust have formally withdrawn from the Hall of Fame panel, due to the club's refusal to use the club's name. David Burns @bbcburnsy Following 2 ex-captains giving @HullCity 's Hall of Fame the cold shoulder, now fans group @HullCityST have withdrawn their support. #hcafc
Good on the HCST for sticking to its principles like this. From what I understand the idea stemmed as much from the HCST as anyone else, so it must have been difficult to let it go, but the right decision has been made. We support a club that can't even honour its legends without ****ing it up. I, somewhat naively, keep thinking we have plumbed all the depths we can plumb. Never overestimate Ehab, I suppose...
Thankfully @HullTigers on Twitter was already taken by someone else long before the name change came up.
Be interesting to see who else they can get to attend, from what I have seen there are a few players from long ago. I think with Ash not wanting to attend I can see anyone who is friendly with Ash also deciding not to attend. Also with the price of the tickets I can see this being a complete disaster.
Is there a statement from the club about this? "This follows confirmation from Hull City AFC that they are not prepared to use the club’s actual name in the title of the Hall of Fame"
They didn't issue a statement, they just told Geoff they weren't going to change it, after Ehab threw a wobbler following the protest.
