i assume it didn't originate from the owners. five in to start with. i'm going to guess carter chilton wagstaff windass ashbee
i looked it up, along with subliminal and sublime. i'm none the wiser. i need to eat more brain food.
I agree, as Hull City started in 1904 and not 1946 ( blinding flash of the obvious) and there must have been players who would qualify then. But it will be difficult as people that are still around, myself included, only go back to the time just after 1946.
Billy Whitehurst - the HARDEST player Alan Hansen ever faced Garry Parker - class act in a class Horton team Warren Joyce - Player & manager and inspiration for the Great Escape Gary Brabin - ex bouncer tackes Huddersfield player with his HEAD Stu Elliot - 27 goals wasn't it in a season from a winger Paul McShane - tenacity, poor man's legend Robert Koren - many memorable long range strikes Mo Diame - for ONE moment only
earlier players should include Andy 'Jock' Davidson 1952-68 - record appearances with 520 Viggo Jensen 1949-56 - Danish international who was very versatile
Based on experience, you need about 25 to 30 places to get close to including every club legend (and even then you'll be missing some serious candidates). That said, the most stick we got omission-wise on the HCSS Hall of Fame was over Jay-Jay Okocha. Now he was a terrific player but one who played 18 games for us (eight of which were substitute appearances in which he would sometimes play for less than five minutes), scored 0 goals, was given one red card and missed the majority of our most important games that season (not to mention he was utterly abject in a handful of the games he did start, such as the away defeat at QPR and the 4-0 defeat at Southampton). Don't get me wrong, I loved Jay-Jay and am fully aware of the impact he had off the pitch, but I wasn't quiet expecting the demands we got for him to be a Hall of Fame inductee.
the announcement said 5 players would go in when it opens on february 1st, so those are the ones i was guessing at. there's players like mcnaughon and mills, more from the carter era, and a whole shedload of smiths. plus some excellent goalies.
Windass will no doubt in there. Davidson and Jensen should get a mention. I'd have Elliott in there, with Ashbee rounding out the five. Suppose it depends on the selection committee and age. Be daft if Chillo and Waggy weren't included first, thinking about it.
give it a rest, you're obsessed - Warren Joyce saved us from oblivion - Brownio got us in the Prem for the first time and Brucie spent more money than every other manager we've ever had in 104 years
