Disappointing tubby that you are getting called for sticking up for the club on a forum set up for Hull City supporters. Too many of the people who now follow the club seem to have spent too much time watching Sky Sports and adopt an overly-analytical mindset, so that they can signal their in-depth knowledge by picking the bones out of our failings, which for them seems to take priority over getting behind the club. You wouldn't be one of those who watches Sky then?
Arf. Hell no, Arnold. I'm just a supporter. I don't have preferred tactics or expert knowledge of Leverkusen's midfield diamond. I confess to having excellent hindsight but feel it's a ****'s trick to wheel it out repeatedly.
Even if we win all six remaining games we can't get to over 90 points, unless they award us bonus points.
Those three teams being on such high points tallies suggests the rest of the league is a long way behind. For some teams that may be acceptable but there's no way we should be lagging behind the likes of Brighton. We released Rosenior because, supposedly, he wasn't good enough and we had so much better. Yet he's one of Brighton's best players and they're miles ahead of us. That's a shocking failure by us.
Despite not now being in contention for the top 2. I haven't been impressed with any of the teams above us. The simple difference has been they have strikers and we don't. The rest of the squad we have could be argued is equal or better than the teams above. We just haven't had the firepower.
That's a nice gaff. My neighbour in London has his house on the market for approximately the same amount. We live in a terraced 3-bed with a small garden. Swings and roundabouts, apples and oranges, I suppose. Sigh.
Yet after years of failure they are still getting bigger crowds than when we were doing well. (Cue posts about Derby being so wealthy compared to Hull). Wonder why that is?
It's historical though isn't it? They have always had big crowds. They get bigger crowds than the PL Champions elect. Doesn't mean anything and besides there's bugger all else to do there!
Why has a smaller place than Hull always had higher crowds? And ones that used to generate one of the best atmospheres of any ground at the relatively small Baseball Ground? Always excuses as to why Hull Citygets relatively small crowds, low wages, rugby clubs etc but of course everywhere else has high wages, no unemployment and nothing else to do. Though what all the attractions there are keeping people away in Hull compared to Derby is a mystery. Middlesbrough took over 2,000 to QPR on a Friday night for a televised game. Presumably Middlesbrough is a high wage, low unemployment area. All three clubs in the bottom three get larger crowds than Leicester. Or Tottenham and West Ham. Ground capacity dictates these things, at least when things are going well. The bottom three get bigger crowds doing badly than some others would whilst being successful.
Let's be honest. Hull City have done an excellent job of keeping fans away from the club - Pre the move to the KC, most of the 90s would have done little to encourage new fans. We have enjoyed a period of relative success since moving to the KC, then our hair brained owner does his absolute best to alienate new fans we had attracted to the club. You really need a sustained period of success to keep fans coming through the turnstiles. Even hardcore fans are having their patience tested by the toxicity at the club and the poor performances on the pitch. Apart from a few games at home this season, many of them have been awful.
As Middlesboro have had more luck than a gypsy selling lucky heather since they beat us,, it is maybe best that they go onto beat Burnley on Tuesday as well as Brighton on the final day. It leaves Hull City with a very very slim chance of second but a possible chance of 3rd place IF Burnley and Brighton hit a rough patch in the run in. 3rd place should mean that we avoid Derby ( who I think we can beat IF we play anything like) and 2 games with the Wendies would be most attractive. No good crying over spilt milk. Hull City had a great chance of winning the Championship but have blown it with wasteful finishing and a few defending errors. Maybe the players would prefer to do it via WEMBLEY anyway ? I have booked the hotel just in case.
