Keep waffling. You're looking good kid? The Durham police quote is relevant because they are outlining the fact they had your man bang to rights yet your club continued his employ. I can't believe you're defending the clubs actions tbh. You should be outraged.
You are just pretending to be as thick as ****, aren't you Neebody's this thick Thanks for the laugh, marra
"Given our current position, do you think we can maintain it? Are we realistic contenders for a top four finish? Will MA invest in January to try to get in the top four?" Post by BishBosh on the nufc board in December 2014 (probably just before the 4 in a row) says it all for me
I'm not defending the clubs actions, I wanted him to remain suspended. But I'm not stupid, I know the club was restricted in how they can conduct themselves. I just know this isn't as black and white as you're depicting. The side involving AJ's employment will be full of red tape. We suspended him then after a meeting with his brief and the PFA we had to lift it. The reason being in the world we live in we have a thing called innocent until proven guilty and as he pleaded not guilty to all charges we couldn't sack him. Not only that, we're not allowed to conduct an internal investigation while the criminal proceedings are ongoing. This is standard procedure in the real world. Therefore how we could we legally sack him? We couldn't. 'End of' You're an idiot. Grow a brain.
You're wasting your time with this ****ing spanner. His hatred towards our club and what he feels is his chance to score a big blow against us, is blinding him from looking at this logically. We have all explained to him, but it's going way over his head.
That seems to be it. He`s determined to have a go at the club whatever. He`s basing his arguments on a statement which AJ has since admitted to be lies. He`s not going to let facts get in the way of a chance to slag off the club.
Oh! Ok then! Oh wise one! I guess we'll have to agree to differ. I'll see if I can stop being an idiot and grow a brain. Perhaps you could spend some time trying to look at this in a more unbiased way? Try to look at it from an outsiders view. Look at what was reported in the papers and across the internet. The club knew! You can talk all the legal jargon you like but at the end of the day, the club knew! Why did they not leave him suspended on full pay until the end of legal proceedings? (I think you'll find they could have done that.) I know and understand you want to try to protect the club you love but sometimes you have to take a step back and say, 'Hey! They f@cked up there!'
If we take the morals out of it and look at the commercial side it would be hard to believe the club knew he was guilty. You only have to look at what happened to clubs that courted Ched Evans. I am no legal expert but, on the face of it, suspect any condemnation of the club is premature to say the least.
Have to admit, i do think the club looks bad. From a legal perspective we've acted correctly, but ethically not imo. 4 May 2015 we knew he had kissed the girl knowing she was 15. We also had full details of their text exchanges where he was saying he wanted to get her jeans off, etc. Legally, we possibly couldn't sack him as his plea was still not guilty. But ethically, i think the correct thing to do at that point is suspend him with pay indefinitely.
Legally, Sunderland have done absolutely nothing wrong. They had every legal right to continue to employ AJ. Morally - That's where there are issues. A lot of people think that he should have remained suspended at the very least. Particularly in light of the 'grooming' charge and the fact that it turns out that club had known for a while. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though. If it had come out at the time that the club knew then that would have changed matters considerably. There would have been a mass of public pressure to act. They had the option to suspend but didn't. Those that think that Sunderland will have the book thrown at them for this are wrong. Points deduction? Not a chance that will happen. FA Fine? Maybe. Look, what AJ has done is reprehensible. It would be the same for any other sex offender. However, back to Sunderland and life in general; are we going to start punishing clubs/ people for immoral rather than criminal decisions?
Agree with this. Seems to me there are two separate issues. Legally - The club sacked him as soon as guilt was established. The original suspension was lifted because the club was forced to after the intervention of the legal types. Morally - That`s where it`s come unstuck. I suppose the best option would have been to reinstate him (as they had to) but simply not pick him to play. It seems like the club is not guilty of any legal wrongdoing but is morally guilty of believing a liar. As you say, hindsight is a wonderful thing.
You've got your opinion that the club should have held up his suspension - fair enough, but to make a comment like that us ridiculous. I work in a place full of football supporters, none of which are Sunderland ones and we've had conversations about this a lot. Nobody has said anything condemning Sunderland. I don't know what to make of it myself as I'm not clear of all the facts and I don't know exactly what was said and what went on behind the scenes. Even if I get enough facts in the end to decide the club made a mistake, I'll still support them but may not be happy with what they did, that's the way it is and a week after the court case finishes nobody will be talking about Sunderland in any of this.
Yet he pleaded innocent? He admitted kissing the girl - this is not admitting guilt. I kissed my mother good night when I left her house last night - did I commit an act of incest? The club suspended him on his arrest and re-instated him until he admitted breaking the law - when the club sacked him! You are taking what Adam Johnson is saying as gospel truth when no-one actually knows what the truth is
What a pretentious prick you truly are! Have you spoken to "the whole country"? I work with a large number of mags who look at Johnson with disgust (although Papisse Cisse got a 13 year old pregnant if I remember correctly and hasn't been sacked?) - none of these mags look at Sunderland with disgust and they all believe that SAFC did things correctly as no-one had hindsight in this. So please **** off with generalising everyone - it's YOUR opinion and you may know one or two others with it - that does not constitute "the whole country"
It will be forgotten about within 2 weeks. Once Johnson is convicted he will serve his time, be forgotten about and this will move on.
Guessing he's one of the "Johnson scored past us and played against us so the wins should be wiped from history" brigade! His first comment on here says "I'm very disappointed in SAFC" (or words to that effect) which, to me, reads like he's on of ours - but looking back through his history I think he's one of yours! Just hate people who talk for everyone as if they know them! I know for certain that it annoys other posters on here as well!
I don't believe that it is his opinion, Marcus . . . . not at all He's just a ****ing idiot trying to cause trouble where there isn't any Maybe something's happened to him that he's ashamed of, and he wants to take it out on somebody else Maybe we should be honoured that he chose us
Johnson will be consigned to history by both clubs. I personally always thought that he was a bit of an arrogant twat. He scored against us several times [including for Man City.] But asking for retrospective action because 'morally' he shouldn't have played is daft. Morally, we should never have signed Lee Bowyer or Jonathan Woodgate after what they did to that Asian lad whilst playing for Leeds. We did though.
People keep throwing this out there but I don't understand the viewpoint at all. Police: Mr Johnson, we are charging you with grooming and 3 counts of sexual activity with a child. The next stage is to send all of the evidence to your employer
