Having supported and subsequently followed "City" since I was about eight years old, I naturally resist the name change unless there is a bloody good reason for it. From what I have observed over the recent weeks, it appears that Mr Allam speculates that Hull Tigers will generate additional revenue but has presented no evidence to substantiate this. In the Mail article, when asked for evidence that 'Hull Tigers' will bring in more commercial revenue than Hull City, he becomes visibly irritated - and the table at Allam Marine takes another hammering. 'Who's asking?' he barks. I am asking ... Mr Allam, please present a convincing marketing strategy that indicates how the additional millions will be generated and you might garner some support from the unconvinced such as me. Your current arrogant and dictatorial stance only gives me cause for concern. Not that I think you will lose any sleep as a result of what I and thousands of others think.
From today's Observer: Hull's success is their real reason to roar The great shame about all this Hull City business is that it has taken so much emphasis away from everything good that has been happening at the club. The real story of Hull's season should be the way Steve Bruce's side are on course to confound public opinion and stay in the Premier League with something to spare. Throw in the possibility of an FA Cup final, if they can avoid losing to Sheffield United of League One, and it is shaping up to be the outstanding season in the club's history. The pity is that their owner, Assem Allam, should be riding on the back of it rather than this self-inflicted position whereby all he needs to complete the caricature is a monocle and a white Persian cat. The rich are used to getting their own way and Allam, true to form, is threatening a legal challenge now the FA has blocked his plan to rename the club Hull Tigers. At the very least, could he just postpone all this nonsense until the summer? http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/apr/12/tottenham-hotspur-spurs-louis-van-gaal-manager
