Different era Essex and he didn't have a bad 10 in front of him, more of a Harvey man myself...........but I know what you're saying. You up for the Wallies game by any chance?
......just wished he'd boxed the **** out of Mc Queern Anyway Essex, hope you can so I can buy you a proper Northern drink
So I think that we would all agree that Siaz is a 100% success as a signing. Allioski perhaps 80% of us would think is a good signing that will only get better. Ekuban showed in his first start that he has some potential. Felix is not a total disaster after all and perhaps will prove to be a good signing but it would seem the jury is still out. Grot is clearly one for the future but at 19 years old it would be madness to not think he has potential. The other permanent signings such as Klich and Cibicki have not yet had the chance to show one way or the other whether they will be good additions or not. So, in my opinion, Victor Orta has made a reasonable start as DOF and deserves more time before being judged either a success or failure. Let's give him at least the next 2 transfer windows before leaping to negative conclusions as well as giving his signings the chance to settle and adapt. Remember Siaz was not ready to go straight into the team and needed a month or so to get up to speed before he was physically ready.
Afternoon all. Felix still looks nervous and lacking in confidence - probably because of the abuse he's had from fans and media and then being dropped. He was man enough after the game yesterday not to try to pretend it didn't matter to him, and I think if he can get a few solid performances under his belt, even if we don't win them all, he'll settle down and inspire more confidence going forward. Of the two in contention, he has the potential to be better than average so we should give him every encouragement - Lonergan will always be a journeyman.
Good thread WJ in my opinion we are a better playing side than last season with a lot more quality, but as yet we are not as solid as last season. We score more goals because they are shared around with the likes of Lassoga, Phillips, Alioski, Saiz, Roofe & Hernandez which is great but the big missing ingrediant from last season is replacing Bartleys goals. Without Bartleys goals we would have been a mid table team, but this season we have zero goals from a CH from a corner or set piece - Set Piece Coach where are you? Keepers we have the 6th best in the German top flight last season who is better than some give him credit for. His stats are great in reality but his technique in England isnt as good as whats required for Germany style play. Why have we got a GK coach is he cant sort/help our keepers, maybe he is a member of Ortas team that needs looking at. Radz is a breath of fresh air and as many have said already he is building the base for the future, and whatever happens this season will have been a success, but for us here and now there are some questions on Orta. Yes Alioski & Saiz & probably Anita were good signings but serious questions about others: Grot - I was chuffed to bits with him because he was a highly rated player wanted by top clubs. he doesnt look anything like the player seen on video? Klich was our first top signing of the summer but before Tommy arrived. It took us ages to get him as he was being chased by top German & Ditch clubs. Not even on the bench. Cibicki? CBJ started the season and the fans smiling at his speed, his skill, his link up play from the back through the middle, his wing play to the front and had end product. He replaces Pennington at CH 7 was great there too. Where is he now? or was last seasons form at Wolves his real form. Pennington another great loan signing who for me should be playing & probably would if he hadnt got injured first game, but Cooper being captain is keeping him out? Sako, why did we pay all that money in the Summer because he aint progressed.
Just as a follow up to our clubs progress this season, the real management team should show their colours in January. Will Tommy show us what hes doing with the discarded players, will we be selling the likes of Klich & are Grot & Cibicki only good enough for Development squad this season. Who will be brought in as new signings in January Will Lassoga be given the balls to get on the end of Will Ekuban make it as first or 2nd choice striker or will we bring in a new one. Due to the clever player trading Orta, Kinnear & Radz did in the Summer we still have Taylor & Wood transfer kitty!!!!
yes and last season we had a core too but once again have to wait and rebuild.no wonder fans patience is wearing thin.
clever trading ? loads of players signed on daft long contracts.who the hell signed sacko he can't bloody play and is earning a bloody fortune compared to what i earn.he never has to go to work just keep fit.no sorry but some bad things have been done.
Wakey by clever I mean not spending much & what he did spend is hiden in deals that loan players to sister clubs in Spain & Mid East. Loan deal for Lassoga where he only picks up part of his wages. I also questioned why we spent all that money on Sako
One question I have. Why do fans assume we have the wood and Taylor money to reinvest. What if that was used to buy back Elland Road. I’m not saying it was but it’s a possibility. I suppose we’ll have a better idea on Feb 1st
the sako deal is a big mystery to me.i know what you are saying but think fans deserve better.think felix has lost his confidence.
Eire earlier in the year I posted some accounts stuff done by a guy who has been reporting on our accounts for years. In his data it shows the dealings with GFH, the deal done on the sly behind The backs of GFH and the clever way Radz did it which hurt GFH. The deal was done, cash transferred all done before we sold Wood or Taylor. In a later publication the same guy (I posted it on here too) he showed how the clubs new player trading deals were making sound business sense. Lassoga loan deal & all the new kids brought in who were then loaned out to sister clubs all showing a massive profit due to the way we were now beating the football fair play rules as we are in effect hising the cost as we are sending the cost overseas as an investment. The players we then bought & those we brought in on loan show circa £18.5m surplus which is remains of Taylor Wood cash.
I have not so far been impressed with Wiedwald but I have a feeling that after the Barnsley game we may see a different player. He may be the goalkeeper we need.
