Thats what i fear, all very well building a team for promotion next year or for the future, thats all well & good if you can keep your best players,i fear we will not,Saiz/Alioski & co will no doubt have more than an interest from pl teams. playing in the best league in the world & the massive wages will more than likely see them gone, and who could blame them.So what does that leave ,back to square one i fear, and now have to rebuild once again for the following season.which brings me to my next point WHY OH WHY can't we do a Wolves spend out now get promotion & then worry about the future from lofty heights of the premier league. i know some teams have failed by this philosophy, but plenty have succeded.
I know i am just being impatient, but for the love of god how many years have we been patient for? we have a core of a very good team (and this time i want to keep them)i hope rad spends out big in january gets us the sighnings we need, hopefully then we will have a team for auto's and will not have to worry about losing our best players.
It's up to Radz to keep the forward momentum going and then our best players will consider staying on. I am really happy that he didn't pull the trigger on TC and hopefully that has broken a negative cycle that we always seem to get ourselves into. My gut feeling was that a few players had got lazy/sloppy probably thinking TC's days were numbered. They would have then known this wasn't happening when TC was still there throughout the international break and to be honest, it looks like they have a bit more grit about them now going by the last 3 displays. It's going to be a steep learning curve when you bring foreign players and a foreign manager to this league, so hopefully Radz holding his nerve will pay dividends now and TC and the team repay him with a strong second half to the season. I am hopeful, more hopeful than in many a season.
My sentiments exactly, this is why we must spend in january for the big promotion push, while we have the building blocks.
thank goodness AR didn't listen to the prophet of doom but listened to his commonsense In January if we are within the reaches of the top6 I expect AR to go out and buy a goalkeeper Aleft back a striker and a fast winger Then we shall see where that lot takes us I am pleased to see WJ home safe and sound and I hope he still has his shirt after visiting Las Vegas
Just would like to add that Felix has kept 7 clean sheets in those 12 games as well. Not bad for a useless signing according to the majority on here.
If Rad had been our owner for the past 14 years, I would be concerned and impatient too but Bates GFH and Cellino, what a trio. This is our first full season with Rad in charge and he is laying the foundations. Three teams will be promoted, the rest will all be hoping to hold on to their best players, Saiz will be the hardest to hold on to but if he goes and we get big money and that is invested back into the club then we should be okay. Previous seasons we sell the best players and the money vanishes, I believe Rad will spend a big chunk of the Wood transfer fee in January. I can see the argument for not caring what goes on behond the scenes but it's business and we need to attract the best. Look at it another way, roll the clock back and a player like Saiz is shown around the facilities when we had Cellino in charge. "No that's your coach putting the kit away as it is one of his many duties". "We don't use that old building anymore, it used to be a canteen but now just bring a pack lunch when you come to train".... I could go on... Now under Rads we try and tempt a player to join and they get to see all the stuff behind the scenes, the set piece coach, the conditioning coach, the defensive coach, they get to hear we have a scouting network, they see a proper club with proper facilities not some micky mouse set-up, they get introduced to a board of respected directors, can you even imagine the look on a new players face when he was introduced to Cellino's son who was a director
Interesting that you think we still need a new goalkeeper when WJ has already pointed out that we average 2.16 points per game with Felix in goal.
I was about to say the very same. Stats can get a bit skewed. They were nearly all teams near the bottom and he had little to do
I posted the other day how TC had managed the goalkeeper situation poorly and that Felix just needed to adapt to a new league and that his main problem was his starting position being too deep. From memory, most posts I've read since Felix was dropped have been extremely negative about his ability and have demanded his replacement. Well done to WJ for stating the facts about Felix's contribution as they sometimes get lost amongst all the hyperbole and hysteria after a couple of errors.
I think a lot of people saw the stats in his last 3/4 games in Germany, when he conceded a **** load of goals. Now maybe it was the opposition or the defence, I don't know. I'm sitting on the fence at the moment. There are things in his game that need improving. I thought up till recently that Lonergan wasn't too bad. It's a poxy position to play in.
And when he inevitably drops a clanger (as even the best keepers in the world occasionally do, and we can't afford the best) he'll get pummelled by the mob and we'll be looking for another keeper, and another, and so the cycle continues.... May as well stick with Felix
Like I said Jammy, I'm sitting on the fence on this issue. He's back in at the moment so lets see how he does.
I'm on the fence about Felix... I believe he is better than Lonergan who I don't rate in the slightest. I do like how Felix mixes things up, he has a great throw out, he kicks the ball long, he passes it short, his distribution is of one of the best we have had in goal for a long long time but his mistakes earlier in the season really got to him. I like how he accepted the fan handing him a cap and how he presented him with his shirt afterwards, he obviously wants to please the fans so maybe when we are on his back it weighs him down more than most. He is always looking for that quick ball out, the counter attack, someone mentioned earlier that they read a good goalkeeper has fewer saves to make as he organises the defence in front of him better. We had Kasper, myself included never rated him much, now look at him. We had Green and we would have all dropped him for good after the QPR game. The Barnsley keeper yesterday was awful, are we just expecting too much?
