So Far So Good....- Special Report for Jimmy

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by BobbyD, Aug 18, 2015.

  1. He did some against Stoke, certainly more than Balotelli as ever even dream about doing. I didn't watch pre-season but saw him play for Villa a few times and he worked then too.

I think you misunderstand people when they say they want a forward to work. Nobody is expecting the Suarez level of work rate as that is a rarity, just don't stand around waiting spectating, help your team when in or out of possession.

  2. I'm with Tobes on this (not just because his argument is against you, it makes me feel sick to agree with Tobes ;) ), you have an inaccurate opinion of Benteke.

But just because he makes 1 or 2 runs in a game doesn't mean he's a dynamic or mobile striker.

Just like Suarez scoring headers doesn't make him a big target man.

Benteke has made a few runs but you cannot honestly tell me that he's a versatile striker, especially when most of his goals come from crosses or set pieces (even his goal last night was from a cross).

He's a big target man who likes the ball in the air or at chest height and can on occasion play with the ball at this feet - which is more than I expected.

    Take the compliment. <ok>

That's the issue. As those who've been telling you that you've been wrong about this lad, know what to expect from him, as he's been playing in this league for 3 years, and everyone could see what he does and how he plays.

Your description of him has always been just plain wrong, as you patently hadn't studied the lad when he was at Villa.

Did you miss that turn he made on the halfway line and the 40 yard cross field ball that followed it 2nd half last night? Target man who can chest a ball? **** off Jimmy <laugh>

I would change the team for the Arse game.
Can into the holding role, take Lallana out.
Moreno in at left wing, Ibe out.

Changing to a 433, Can covers the Cbs and Moreno offers cover to Gomez.

Did you miss the sitter he missed last night?

Unlike you, I won't hold that against him as I'm basing my opinion on years of his performances - not one off events during a single game. <ok>

If that were actually true, then you would have reached the correct conclusion and not "he's a lamppost"

You'll no doubt continue to try and spin it that he's somehow morphed into an allround striker since his move, when he makes those comments look more and more ridiculous as the weeks go by.........

You were wrong Jimmy - end of.

Good shout on Moreno at LM. Said yesterday he impressed on his cameo last night in that role and can help Gomez who will probably be targeted by Sanchez.

I'd half think on that yes.

The ibe v moreno part seems a bit of a gut reaction to 15 mins of good perofrmance though.

for me i'd go 451 and move coutinho to left side. Ibe ca work with clyne on right

    Mingolet
    clyne skertl lovern gomoez
    Ibe Henderson Can Milner Coutinho
    Benteke

I would actually think about gomez in this game. the boys done quite well but there comes a time when you have to protect him and away at the emirates with bellarin and ox down on him? not great.

Thats why having Moreno in front would be a sensible move. Offers that protection.

He was lazy for most of his career. Fair enough, he chased well last night and hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

Funny how I actually I PRAISED Benteke in this thread and some people on here have twisted it completely. <ok>

If this is a lazy striker I want more of it.

    He's 24 ffs <laugh>

The only spin in this thread has come from you pal, trying to make out that he's somehow changed his game overnight.

As to admit that his showing yesterday is merely his game, would make your previous assertions about him completely wrong <whistle>

  18. TBF to Jimmy, Benteke can have lazy games so maybe Jimmy only happened to see him on these off days? Much more likely then the rest of us only happening to see him when he wasn't being lazy :)

He had a good game but you make him sound like he was a world beater? Against Bournemouth. At home where he showed SIGNS of changing his game and being more involved.

But you're right - he made a few runs and chased down a player last night which means he's the next Luis Suarez and has been all of his career. Regardless of how he normally scores his goals or how his previous teams have played to his strengths, or ignoring the fact that LFC now lump more long balls to him as well.

    Please ignore these facts. <ok>
