Of course players want to play for us. They'd run out for an Algerian Desert X1 if the money was right.
Its down to money pure and simply.
And if that's the only thing motivating these players then questions should be asked of their commitment.

Our owners have some huge decisions to make this week and the crowds we are currently attracting and the adverse criticism that appears to be mounting might just sway which way those decisions go.
And any long standing fan of Hull City AFC will tell you that we have seen it all before.
I just hope this isn't history repeating itself.

no disrespect meant here.. but if the allams want us to go up this season they have to spend a little more and give us that final push.... and dare i say it, even if it means paying over the odds for a proven striker..

whats the point in splashing the cash on Bruce (he cost a fair whack to come here..), brady & meyler etc.. if we arnt going to sign a big money striker to get us promoted ?

we are joint 2nd for **** sake.. its crystal clear what we're in desperate need of and thats 1 if not 2 quality strikers.

if anyone can remember back to this time last year when the allams said they'll fund a premier league quality striker if we're in a good position come january.... money was offered to barmby, he never spent it, blah blah... now here we are again 1 year down the line with a much better manager & a much better squad BUT the same problem of not being able to score enough goals....

BUY A STRIKER !!!! its really that simple.... and **** messing around with loan deals for a 31 year old DJ Campbell or taking a risk on Gedo... spend a little bit more money on someone proven at this level and give us a real chance at promotion.

We should stop ****ing about, spend £3-4m on Austin, get Elmo back and get ourselves promoted.

    It is that simple.

Leicester spent £2m on Wood and it will probably get them up, I see only Watford challenging them for the second automatic. Goals win games, strikers score goals, we haven't got any. Now that's ****ing simple.

Yeah, but Burnley will want about 6-7m for Austin! Plus, Celtic are also after Austin, and I think he would rather go there to play in the Champions League!

I thought that since the ' cash' that was offered to nick barmby for a striker the Allams had splashed out money on the German , Brady and Meyler. Plus there wages... Plus wages for 2 goalkeepers on loan , plus wages for Elmo.... So what the **** are people going on about how the Allams offered Nick Barmby cash that there not offering Steve Bruce ?????

The Allams have spent a ****ing fortune on players , wages and debts.

Transfer window is still open. There's still time for Steve Bruce to bring someone in and for Elmo to return. Hopefully the Allams will spend more but I won't complain IF they don't. Also ****ing hell Steve Bruce hasn't even had a full season at the club yet , maybe it will take a couple of seasons for him to build the team up to one good enough for an automatic promotion place.

Having said all of that I still think we will finish in the top 6 and no Club can ever be sure of an automatic promotion place , not even Cardiff...

I don't want to look like one of these ones expecting the Allams to splash the cash but I agree with this, we are two players short, i.e. Elmo and a striker in that bracket

I agree, a striker and a punt on Gedo would be ideal, but sounds like Bruce has given up hope of bringing someone in.

Looking at strikers at other teams from top to bottom of The Championship:

Cardiff: Bellamy, Campbell, Helguson, Mason, Gestede
Leicester: Nugent, Wood, Vardy, Waghorn, Futacs
    Watford: Deeney, Vydra, Forestieri, Geijo,
Crystal Palace: Zaha, Murray, Easter, Wilbraham, Nimely + signing other(s)
Middlesbrough: Emnes, Jutkiewicz, McDonald, Miller, Main
Brighton: Mackail-Smith, Dobbie, Ulloa, Barnes, Hoskins
Burnley: Austin, Paterson, Vokes, Ings, Macdonald
Millwall: Keogh, Marquis, Tyson (+will probably add one now Henderson has left)
Notts Forest: Sharp, Cox, Henderson, Blackstock, Tudgay
Leeds: McCormack, Somma, Diouf, Varney, Becchio (but has handed in a transfer request, probably be replaced)
    Charlton: Kermorgant, Wright-Phillips, Haynes, Fuller
    Derby: Robinson, Ward, Sammon
Blackpool: Ince, Taylor-Fletcher, Phillips, Derbyshire, Delfouneso
Blackburn: Kazim-Richards, Rhodes, Gomes, King, Best, Goodwillie
Bolton: N'gog, Sordell, K Davies, C Davies, Afobe
    Birmingham: King, Lovenkrands, Zigic, Asante
    Wolves: Ebanks-Blake, Doyle, Sigurdarson, Cassidy
    Huddersfield: Vaughan, Novak, Beckford, Lee
Sheff Weds: Lita, Antonio, Madine, Maguire, O'Grady, Rodri
Ipswich: Emmanuel-Thomas, Chopra, Murphy, McGoldrick, Taylor, Nouble, Ellington, McLean
    Peterborough: Tomlin, Gayle, Mendez-Laing
Barnsley: Dagnell, Harewood, Mellis, Noble-Lazarus, Etuhu
Bristol City: Baldock, Davies, Stead, Taylor

crazy to think it gets to the Sheff Weds/Ipswich area of the league (20th and 21st - bar Millwall of course, but they've just had Wood and Henderson taken from them), before you stop being slightly jealous of other teams strikers... even then, there are players below that, that would easily add something to our team.

^^^^^ This and I also agree with OLM. It's time to bite the bullet and get in a proven striker like Austin or Morison + a decent 2nd striker in case of injury.
There's no doubt it would be a false economy for the Allams to allow the team to fall short of promotion for want of a couple of players when the benefits going up would be huge.
I also don't think the DJ deal is dead yet. All SB said is that he's a London lad, but that doesn't mean he won't come here as he went to Blackpool.

I got no idea why I need to get a grip with that statement. Wood and FC didnt want to come to us, DJ wants to stay in london. The no one referred to them.

I've got no idea.. How do you know if either Wood or FC were even approached by the Club? In FC's case he's reported to be on £35k a week on a five and a half year deal - sheer ****ing madness for the Championship.

What tells you DJ Campbell wants to stay in London. If he does that's hardly our fault is it?

Steve Morison and Gedo would be perfect, Elmo to come back is important too, if not him then Ahmed Fathy who I hear is equally as good at RWB than Elmo

I thought that was what was reported by Wood. Bruce said himself that FC didnt want to come to us because it would ruin what he did for us if he was unable to do it again. I saw that interview.

DJ wants to stay in London and no it isnt our fault.

Well you said I needed to get a grip so shouldnt you know? My point which is we are a good side with just a couple pieces missing. I dont get why someone who is that piece wouldnt say yea perhaps I might like this other place better but if I go here I will end up in the PL. If I end up in the PL I can use that as a jumping off point to go wherever I would like to go. Either way I have no idea why my statement means " living the other side of the pond is seriously affecting your judgement." Perhaps you should insult less and realize it is just a forum where people talk.

    Ebanks-Blake would be fantasic.

I disagree that Aluko's best position is left wing. Why would you stick your most creative outwide? The reason we have done well is because our forwards and midfielders are inchanging.
