You have to suspect it relates to the earlier news that his right-hand man - Jerome Valcke - was the man allegedly responsible for paying over, or the money going through him, for the South African Wold cup - $10 million - They are getting awfully close to Blatter himself now..........
Thank goodness for that. I could hardly believe his reaction when he won the election. It was totally expected he would win, but the triumph of the man when it was shown that he had managed to 'collect' enough votes was quite sickening. It is thought that the French may have supported him despite a lot of remarks by Michel Platini that he should go, yet tonight the press are not on his side and suggest that the muck will fly. Shame that they were not so interested before the election.
When the level of corruption is so embedded in an organisation, sometimes that organisation cannot be saved, no matter who takes over. Blatter's resignation may just delay the inevitable . I don't think there is cause for celebration yet. I certainly don't think that the FA is a good model, or could ever be a saviour.
http://www.football365.com/afc-bour...for-promoted-Premier-League-clubs-overhauled? Don't know how I missed this when first announced - but it seems to coincide with when we won promotion.... Conspiracy theorist - who,me?
Worse case is that lack of payments won't affect us too much as the Pozzos will live within our means.
That being the case I fully expect the FA to bring in a scheme of punishments for clubs that live within their means. We'll probably get done for not trying hard enough to stay in the Premier league!
This way Blatter will presumably put forward a successor who will get all the same votes he got rather than withdrawing from the previous election which would have allowed someone with a different agenda to take control.
Yes..... but I think it became clear over the w/e the net was tightening... AND he is going to be around for quite a few months yet sadly....
I do get the feeling he jumped rather than be pushed - go out on his terms, at the podium making a statement, rather than walking off in handcuffs. US Media seem to think he is next - and no doubt some of the people they've already arrested will now start talking to try and save their own backs
Rather sad to think that it takes corruption before people start talking about boycotting the World Cup yet there have been 1,200 construction workers deaths so far in Qatar - if it goes on at this rate until the actual World Cup starts that will be 2.8 times the number who died on 11th September. I would like to see all the money which has been used in corruption cases given to the families of these workers.
