wouldnt call myself the biggest snooker fan in the world but i always watch the big tournaments.just placed a bet on mark selby to win the world championship at 8/1.very consistent player and knows how to grind out a victory, hoping he can go all the way.very hard to know what ronnie o sullivan will turn up seeing he has been out of the game all year.

I've backed Neil Robertson at 13/2. Selby has a good chance though, he deserves to be near the head of the market aswell. Ronnie is a big lay for me, you can't win the world title having only played 1 competitive match all season. I doubt he's done enough practicing either.

Go over to the betting board, as Redcgull has done a big article on it over there, quite a good read:biggrin:

Look's to be playing very well, as i said before it's only the mental side of the game that beats Ronnie, if he's in a good place there he is very hard to beat.

The problem is mental strength is one of the most important attributes in a sportsman, that's why Ronnie whilst being one of the best, will never be regarded as the best of all time.

I love it how the bookies have clipped Ronnies price by a couple of points, when all hes done is beat a guy who's barely played on TV, nevermind playing Ronnie at the crucible. He's looked like a rabbit in headlights for most of the match, and has only started playing a little better now he's miles behind. It's not like Ronnies been on fire, hence no big breaks. They don't need any excuse though to lower a players price. I still feel Ronnie will have to up his game alot once he bumps into one of the more established players

If John Higgins gets knocked out this afternoon then Ronnie has a clear run into the semi finals.
If he gets that far then I think he will be unstoppable. I backed him last week at 6/1 and again today at 7/2.

in the bottom half the value bet is Mark Allen at 14/1 who is a top class player and in form. The potential QF with Mark Selby will probably determine one of the finalists.

Snooker loopy nuts are we
Me and him and them and me
We'll show you what we can do
With a load of balls and a snooker cue

Pot the reds then, skrew back
For the yellow green brown blue pink and black
Snooker loopy nuts are we
We're all snooker loopy

Now ol' Milo as we all know's
Got loadsa dappa suits
London bred and he keeps his head
'Though he's got Italian roots
Emotional but he keeps his cool
'Til he reaches the finals
And whether he wins or whether he don't
'I always bite me eyeballs'

Now our friend Den, hours he spent
Down the snooker hall
On the old green baize his mates seem amazed
At skills with a snooker ball
And them long shots, he never ever got
Why? The old mind boggles
But nowadays he pots the lot
'Cos I wear these goggles'

Snooker loopy nuts are we
Me and him and them and me
We'll show you what we can do
With a load of balls and a snooker cue

Pot the reds then, skrew back
For the yellow green brown blue pink and black
Snooker loopy nuts are we
We're all snooker loopy

Now Terry the taff was born in a gaff
In the valleys of the land of song
And as the reds he puts to bed
He likes to sing along
And if I win he says with a grin
It can only help me can't it
I'll celebrate, I'll buy another eight
'Hairbrushes for me barnet'

Now old Willy Thorne his hair's all gone
And his mates all take the rise
His opponent said cover up his head
Cos it's shining in my eyes
When the light shines down on his bare crown
It's a cert he's gonna walk it
It's just not fair giving off that glare
'Perhaps I ought to chalk itc

Bloody ell Oddy... That was a 80's song that annoyed everybody to death... I cant remember exactly where it ended up in the charts but i bet it made top 20 at least...

We knew a good song when we heard one back in the day...!!!<whistle><laugh><laugh>

Who the hell is this Milo guy they're singing about though? I can remember Denis Taylor, Terry Griffiths and Willie Thorne, but can't for the life of me recall anyone called Milo ?????

Can't beat a bit of Rockney Oddy.

For the title RO'S is the most gifted player,no doubt.

He is mercurial to say the least and not value now at 7/2 given the amount of time he has had off.

The second most naturally gifted member of the field is Judd Trump imo.

He is an ill mannered, irritating and irreverent little s**t but is very talented.

7/1 looks fair value to me.

Ah it's Meo - must've been a typo in the lyrics (whoever wrote them can't spell screw either)

Pretty sure they refer to Graham Miles <ok>

Ali Carter from my own club is playing well, and is overdue a big one.

(Actually when I say my own club - it's HIS club, but he kindly allows me to pay him to play there!)

Poomjaeng from Thailand is the the slowest player I have seen for quite some time...excruciating.

That's why Maguire is getting frustrated with it at the mo Dex... He isnt breaking the rules but something has to be said...!!!

Glad McGuire's out, makes my selection Neil Robertson's route to the semi final look straightforward on paper. Ricky Walden, Micheal White, Robert Milkins and ofcourse that Poomjaeng fella, are the guys left in his quarter now. If Robertson's anywere near his best, as he has been in the build up to this, then he should be able to beat any of those guys with plenty of frames to spare. Leaving him nice and fresh for the business end.

The bookies also seem to have the same view as I do, clipping Robertson from BP 13/2 to BP 5/1 and he hasn't even potted a ball yet!

True Red but these guys are the entertainment business and this guy is not entertaining.

The Stoke City of the snooker world!
