Am i missing something? Did Leeds win the World cup or something?.... They are a circus club governed by clowns and supported by deluded idiots. Yes ELLAND rd has more seats but does that make them a bigger club?.. We are playing in the worlds best lg with a better squad better manager,:tongue: better board with money to spend... If that is TIN POT i ll take it every time.

Big clubs are determined solely by their fanbase. History and stadia and divisional mean nothing other than being contributory factors. Leeds are one of the biggest clubs in the country, Norwich are too, though you only have about half Leeds' fanbase so are around half the size.

Installing corporate boxes which meant it had to be closed. Embarrassing? Probably by traditional standards, but these days you've got to get the dosh in somehow. I did find the number of weirdly-dressed Norwich fans a bit embarrassing though.

And Kenny Foggo, I agree with most of your points in your last reply to me, but I would say that like Marko said, our expectation can breed a drive and ambition that is lacking at clubs without that, I'd also say that Leeds United are nothing more than an average club without our expectation, and our team from 30 years ago were awful and got relegated from the top division! Reckon most Championship sides today would topple them.

I also think this cliche I've seen on this thread about 'Leeds fans rabbitting on about history' is rubbish. Where have Leeds fans done that? A huge, popular misconception is how I see that old chestnut. We're proud of our history, but we hardly use it to justify ourselves. There's no need for us to.

Glad to see Kilkenny, Johnson and Schmeichel go because they weren't going to win us promotion. You do have a point, mind: I'd be seriously pissed off if any of the old boys came in, not just because they're crocked but because they ****ed our club over horrendously in the bad old days. Anyway it's only speculation so far fuelled by a bit of trashtalking from the club, so I'm not going to decry my club as "not clever" until anything's made official. <ok>

I thought Schmeichel was one of the best, if not THE, in the division last season. I obviously didnt see every Leeds game so I can only assume he turned up for the ones on TV and not the others? £1m, if rumour is correct, is nothing for a player as good as him.

It depends how you define best. A lot of people rate goalkeepers only on their ability to stop shots. At shot stopping, you could comfortably argue he is the best in the championship. At everything else? ergh. His positional sense is questionable at times and ok at others. See Millwall 3-2 Leeds. His command of his defense is laughable. His kicking ability looked simply sublime when we first signed him, I remember seeing him against Wolves for the first time during prematch warm up and the accuracy with which he was kicking the ball up field was simply divine. That magically disappeared after a minor ankle injury. Suddenly a goalkick was barely better than conceding a corner, since the ball went straight back to the opposition almost every time.

He did try to perform for the cameras, although I'll never forget that awful blunder against Cardiff at home. Great example of how his command of his defense is laughable. The own goal against Portsmouth at home was another one.

Thanks for the detailed response, seems I only ever saw his good side then!! It's strange as he always looked like he was going to be the better one out of Hart and him, obviously didn't work out that way.

It's really good to see an honest response as I was totally oblivious to these errors you mention. I don't recall the Cardiff one or the Pompey one..I'll have to look those up!
 
The Cardiff one was on TV, when a long ball came through and Bruce let it bounce, next thing we knew, him and Schmeichel were both going for it and neither of them knew what was going on. Then Bothroyd pounced and the rest is history.

The other one was partly bad luck but again terrible communication. O'Brien knocked it back towards goal and Schmeichel wasn't anywhere near it if I remember correctly. I may be wrong, it's all a bit fuzzy.

His name makes him sound a lot better than he is and I can't wait to get a new keeper who knows how to keep a handle on his area.
 
There was also one in the Watford game I mentioned earlier where for their first goal Kaper was for some reason out at the side of his box when a cross came in meaning the Watford player only had to head it into the middle of the goal. Great shot stopper, average at everything else, as it is we need more consistency.
 
I think the goals conceded stat tells its own story with Casper.. Best keeper in the division was Kenny at QPR, the guy was awesome.
