I've not once said its anything special. I think nothing of it but Norwich fans seem to be getting in all a hype about it about how we are saying Snoddy will just walk back to us when we win the league and get promotion back to the Prem where we deserve to be. No one has said this and it just feels like everyone is accusing leeds fans of doing that Most players have release clauses in their contracts. Its nothing special but its to protect the player. If he is worth 15m next summer and we have a 5m buy-back clause in his contract, thats tough **** in all honesty but that is considered by the clubs and they need to allow for that and thats where they get the figure from for the clause, it doesn't matter whether the future of the club isn't guaranteed or not. This is all normal in negotiating and often if players want to stay there they just agree new terms without the clause or with a higher clause. As I say again, I think nothing of it but I don't understand the reaction to Simon by him just putting it out there
Tony_Munky I may be wrong but I think Pique may have had a buy back clause activated when he resigned for Barcelona. Different scenario really but in case your interested as I seen you ask earlier in the thread.
I'm not getting worked up. I said at the beginning and I'll say again, there is nothing to see here. This is in all likelihood a non-event. Of course there'sa small chance it might be an interesting clause, but there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that. The things that have surprised me are that firstly Leeds fans don't realise that this clause is normal and secondly that they don't account for the fact that LUST have an agenda. The fact that LUST's agenda is the same as yours doesn't alter the fact that you should view some of their comments with healthy scepticism. As for the interpretation of what Simonfirst posted, you have a point. However, you have to admit that merely by posting this that is the implication.
you leeds boys aren't covering yourselves in glory in this thread...too much football manager i think...
Then I shall stick with what I originally pointed out- you are being a little naive. And they are not exaggerating anything. They have merely allowed you to wilfully draw positive conclusions.
Robert Snodgrass is now a Norwich City player. If he excels in the Premier League he will no doubt have many top flight admirers with deep pockets for a transfer fee and wages. Unless this fictional 'takeover' happens that would rule Leeds out completely. With all due respect Simon, the only way Robert Snodgrass would ever play for Leeds again is if he doesn't quite cut it in the Premier League and Leeds are Championship or lower. There's nothing more to say really
One thing I do get sick and tired of reading is "premier league... Where we deserve to be" Sorry but the only teams who deserve to be in the premier league are the 20 teams that are there now, no one else!
Sorry old chap, but I'm afraid that's exactly what Simon did say, hence the reason I bothered with this pointless thread in the first place. It's all there in black and white on the first page. Have another look
Here it is again, don't think I've misinterpreted anything thanks. Ok so he's changed his mind by now, but it took six pages of petty squabbling before he did so.
I jumped the gun a bit there. Of course that is assuming Snodgrass' ideal situation would still be PL with Leeds etc. etc., and lots of things can change in a relatively short time. Also of course it was only ever my personal opinion, which could well be way off the mark.
No worries fella, at least we're all 'singing from the same hymn sheet' now. Good luck for the new season - and I do genuinely mean that
Wow, just got back from hospital (fine now, thanks) taken best part of a week to read through this to find you'd all ganged up on poor old Simon! Simon's only real crime that I could find was to not be very careful at explaining what he meant, and maybe voicing it in a way that he wished to be true. As Thai said hours ago and was pretty much ignored, Simon is one of the good guys, why the hell you can't gang up like that on the villains I don't know! Simon, we're not a bad lot really, but we do have our fair share of wums, which, I suspect, is why you got jumped on! You are a welcome visitor on this board whenever it takes your fancy! As munky says above, good luck for the season, the take-over, and in getting rid of the spitting slimeball before he harms your club!
If you're talking about the picture it's because the new kit releases this summer have come with the tagline "New Shirt, New Start". Can't remember where I first saw the pic but thought it was a more accurate description of things.
Just seen this on twitter so I thought I'd share it! cadillacjukebox BREAKING: Neil Warnock to name a different captain each game to throw Norwich City off the scent #LUFC
