Assuming no new injuries between now and Snodgrass regaining match fitness, who drops to the bench to accommodate him? To think we were panicking about midfield a few months ago!
Wouldn't worry about it. It's nice to have so many options but at some point we'll need him due to injury or loss of form.
Hopefully SB will have learnt how to avoid midfield revolts after his last episode when he bought all the spare midfielders he could find and pissed off his squad players. I think it was Quinn who tweeted something like 'I wish this transfer window would hurry up and close...'.
100%. If we voluntarily droped anyone who doesnt need a rest from a team winning 5 on the trot and not conceding a goal then the manager would be ****ing mental. The likelihood is, our 2 main strikers have played nearly every game when theyve been available so they will need a rest and Diame or Snodgers will play behind one of the strikers.
I think our weak link, and that's a relative term as he's less string rather than weak, is Elmohamady. So maybe him.
He could play anywhere. For Norwich I understand he usually played out wide, which isnt great as he's the slowest wide attacking midfielder I've ever seen. As well as using him wide, I think TWS often played him in a free role as an attacking midfielder. Personally I'd only consider having him in purely for set pieces, which he's great at, as I think he's worse than what we currently have on other attributes.
He's a right winger, that's where he's played his career. Speed isn't an issue as he's not a bomb to the byline type player, he brings the ball in field and shoots from 30 yards and score many goal.
Thats what I said, with - I'm pretty sure - TWS playing him centrally on occasion in the way we played Diame on Saturday and the way we occasionally played Brady last season. Not many would describe young Robbie as being an attacking midfielder in a free role but he did last season. And - I'm guessing here - but I wouldnt be surprised if that's the role Brice signed Snodgrass for cos there was no way last season he was thinking of dropping Elmo. And speed is an issue. It's been an issue all his career. See the comments from Norwich fans when we signed him.
I don't, I think he'll stay. He doesn't have to look far, Chezzy, to see that the grass isn't always greener. He knows Bruce and he knows the club, the fans love him, I can't see him leaving. The only way would be if his new agent pushed a move through, and that would probably be the worst advice for Elmo, but that's agents, they don't give a **** about the players, to them they're simply an asset that they look to make money from.
One things for sure, IF we lose a midfielder or two in Jan I don't think we'll be replacing them with all the current options.
