Sadly not, Italy for a few days...could be worse - hoping by the time I land there's something to get seriously excited about...doing my girlfriends head in on 606...
A "tight thigh strain" ruled Snodgrass out of there friendly last night, how many times have I heard that down the year's.
Colin doesn't lie about these things and has already stated he'll be meeting up with the squad in Devon and Cornwall. He was one of 3 players out with strains and niggles.
Anyway, the latest (as I understand it) from Colin is that you still haven't met our "valuation" and he doesn't want to sell anyway. It's also understood from people close to Snoddy that if a move to the PL arises he would want to link up with one of his old managers...
I don't think many of us would be at all surprised if Villa get Snodgrass. However, I do find it a bit odd that Snodgrass would specifically want to link up with the manager who coached him for half a season at Livingstone, who resigned after a terrible record of just five wins in thirty odd matches and including a run of seven straight defeats... A record that saw them ultimately get relegated. It seems more likely, to me, that he would go to Aston Villa because they are (a) perceived to be a safer bet for Prem survival and (b) would pay better wages. Possibly also (c) he would have a better chance of being a consistent starter, if that bothers him. Either way, Simon I think you're doing an admirable job of holding out hope, but even you must admit it is getting close to the point where it looks like Snodgrass probably will leave one way or another. There is, of course, always another chance, but the fact that the widely rumoured takeover didn't occur yesterday leaves me thinking that Bates is just being cruel.
Last I heard was he would rather link up with his old team mates. Unfortunately for you boys Simon I think the writing is on the wall and Snoddy will be a Premier League player in the next few weeks - whether that is with Norwich or not is debatable.
Except of course they got on well, Lambert's record has nothing to do with it. I'm stating the situation as I see it, I think Snoddy's in two minds, he loves Leeds United and would love to captain us to the PL, but that can't be guaranteed whereas a move to the PL would put him straight there. However, with all due respect, if he were to move ideally he wouldn't want it to be to Norwich. Don't think he's already off by any means but I wouldn't be particularly surprised either. And as I've said before think some of your fans are getting a tad arrogant with this "writing's on the wall", "it's all about money/PL football" business.
LOL timing mate! Problem is the statement is true and that will become apparent in the next few weeks. As we are talking about tiresome lines..I love the one we get from 'sleeping giants' such as yourself "with all due respect, they won't want to join Norwich"...heard it just a few months ago with Howson and he is loving life here at a midtable PL club.
You seem to have an extraordinarily in-depth knowledge of the workings of Snodgrass's mind. I seem to remember hearing that Lambert felt humiliated by the Livingstone debacle and didn't want to be reminded about it and didn't keep in touch with anyone. Lambert's record will have everything to do with it- why would a player join up with a manager where they experienced disaster? Admittedly, things have moved on, but I suspect that if Snodgrass goes to Villa, it will be primarily for the reasons I listed above, rather than any close connection with Lambert. Given that Lambert is an unlikeable and anti-social character of at the best of times anyway... How on earth can you say "if he were to move ideally he wouldn't want it to be to Norwich"?? Have you asked him this personally? I'm genuinely intrigued; you really sound like you think you know exactly what is going on. My interpretation would be that he would be happy to go to the best paying club that comes in for him, as anyone would. So obviously if Norwich is the only Prem club, he will be happy with that, but, sure, if Man U came in he would jump at it. It helps that Howson and Johnson are here, undeniably. I really thought the fact that Howson came here would have made Leeds fans drop the whole "oh we're a bigger club so Norwich is a step down". Yes, historically you are a bigger club, but it's the here and now for current players, because they don't have all the time in the world. Ultimately, we can guarantee him Premier League football for one year and, I'd say c. a 7/10 chance of it the next year, given that any one of about 10 clubs could go down. Leeds can't offer anything other than the chance (bookies average at 4/1 and something tells me that's to do with heavy betting by Leeds fans...) of Prem football next year. Those are the cold, hard odds. No arrogance there. I think it's a ridiculous accusation from you that I am being arrogant, particularly given the tripe we have to hear regularly about Leeds being the bigger club from you and most Leeds fans. I have said I think he would probably go to Villa instead. I think all the signs do indeed point to the fact that he is close to leaving- Warnock admitting his head has been turned, his refusal to sign a new contract, etc., etc. Of course, the writing is not on the wall inasmuch as he hasn't signed for another club, but I think you will have to accept that it's now looking more likely than not. And for you to accuse us of arrogance about "it's all about the money/PL"- that is both ridiculous and naive. Firstly, Norwich are not a wealthy club, so that's irrelevant and secondly, unfortunately, modern football is almost all about the money and Premier League football. Why else are Leeds fans so keen to get to the Prem eh? Snodgrass has proved himself a loyal servant and a good character, but he has also demonstrated that he wants to compete at the highest level. It is not arrogance on my part to say that in the slightest, given that I am not talking about the attraction, or lack of, that is Norwich. I felt you have been making valiant attempts to point out that it's not all over til the large madam warbles, but your latest post smacks of desperation and delusion.
****'s sake, just made a big huge post but it got lost. Anyway the gist was that as far as I know from limited access to people in the club is that no decision has yet been made by either Snodgrass or the club. The writing is far from on the wall but it still wouldn't surprise me if he did leave.
In that case I think we're probably, on balance (and minus a few slightly biased opinions!), in agreement! The one thing I think most Norwich fans agree on is that if he does decide to leave Leeds, it's far from certain he will join us.
It was also on the YEP today that sources close to Snoddy (probably much closer than mine) are saying he is neither desperate to leave nor pushing for a move. Seems to me he'll go only if the right offer for him and the club comes along, which is probably 50/50. As has been said on this thread he's already shown us more loyalty than he needed to and deservers a PL move, but I think it would be difficult for him as well as the club/fans.

Lol what a desperate clutch at straws. You have the opportunity as the captain of Leeds United to lead them back to the Premier League. They've had that opportunity for a number of years now and always fail.
