I don't think he was out of his depth at Madrid, he had a great first season. Then in the second season he was shifted out wide and his impact dropped. He's great at international level as well, I think he'd have as good chance as anyone of fitting into the Premiership. It was a lot of money though for a 27 year old, he could have probably been good for 4-5 more years but then we wouldn't be getting anything back for him after that. We should have got him as part of the Ronaldo deal if we really wanted him. Sneijder and £65-70 million would have been nice, but two years ago Scholes was 2 years younger, we still though Anderson would have progressed aster than he has (though he is making pleasing progress now) and we didn't think Hargreaves was never going to come back so as with most things in life it would have probably only happened with hindsight.
