Agreed. Crouch and Walcott are good examples of this. Both were at Southampton. They were then sold to Liverpool and Arsenal respectively. Both got England call ups almost immediately, before they had even kicked a ball for their new clubs.
He's played 11 times for the U21s. If he wanted a player he could trust and that was in form that he knows then he should have picked Redmond. He's played 31 times for the under 21s and has 9 goals.
Oi plenty of our players get England call ups these days... It tends to be after that they leave... other way round now
I agree in principle to what you're saying but not in the case of Wes Brown. The reason he no longer played for England when he left United is for exactly the same reason he no longer played for United, because he'd aged and his career was on the wane. When he was at United and in the England squad he was very good, definitely worthy of being in the England squad. The other two you mention are and always were ****e though.
Wes Brown made 23 England caps in during a time when we had the likes of John Terry, Sol Campbell, Rio Ferdinand, Jamie Carragher, Ledley King, Gareth Southgate and Martin Keown. Theres no way he'd have been picked if he didn't play for Man United.
Yes, he would. At right back, where he frequently played for United. None of the above are right backs. If he was good enough to play for and hold down a spot with United during our most successful era then he was good enough to play for England.
.... so you are accusing Wes of beating his missus up but escaping a criminal record? ... he's gonna be livid ... have you any evidence? ... It's only fair that I warn you here that I may well turn into @Hoddle Is A Saint and incessantly demand that you produce such evidence / answer my question for the next week or so ...
Does it? Has Danny Simpson played about 300 games for United with two champions league medals? That's not my rational at all. My rationale, having watched the bloke play countless times, is that when Brown was at his peak he was good enough for United and so good enough for England. Simpson was neither. Just accept you're wrong and move on.
