I'd rather highjack that deal than sign Silva for the same price. Silva is more like Drinkwater whereas William is more like Kante.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is in talks to move to Sporting - could pave the way for Adrien leaving. Sporting were adiment to us that he won't go for less then his minimum fee of £34M
Sporting are trying to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger on a free transfer from Man U If they get him they will consider offers for Adrien Silva Man U are prepared to let him go for nothing
Just been reading up on this debacle - apparently a deal was in place for Slimani for £25m (£12.5m now, £12.5m installments) but then we contacted Adrien's agents without letting Sporting CP know which pissed off their owner who is now demanding £25m upfront for Slimani and no deal on Adrien meaning we would need to pay his £35M release clause. Also Slimani had a £23m minimum fee clause that expired a few weeks ago... Without Walsh, we seem to be turning into Man Utd when Moyes was in charge...
Sky reporting that negotiations are progressing positively http://www.skysports.com/football/n...slimani-remain-transfer-targets-for-leicester
Leicester close to star striker signing: Terms agreed and team-mate targeted LEICESTER are on the brink of completing a raid for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani, according to reports. Sky Sports claim the Foxes returned with an improved offer for the hitman after having a £25m bid rejected in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The Algerian scored 27 times last season and could be one of two players who join Claudio Ranieri's side today. Leicester maintain their interest in Slimani's team-mate Adrien Silva as well. The Foxes have until 11pm tonight to complete any business with Slimani the most likely deal to be completed. After the international break Ranieri's side take on Liverpool as they look to retain their Premier League title.
If that´s the case & true then that will go down as an expensive mistake in which we will, l hope, learn from. I doubt Walsh would of let that happen.
An expensive school boy error if true. Doubt it's due to Walsh leaving, thought he did the scouting and recommendations, I didn't think he did the approaching and negotiation.
Am hoping we nick Ignacio Camacho from under West Brom's nose but otherwise no. Really annoying we aren't in for another RB - can Chilwell potentially play there as Hernandez wasn't that good.
My prediction for today is that Slimani will get over the line, but Silva won't. If that release clause was true, then that would have been when Walsh was here. It wouldn't be Walsh that would have approached Silva even if he was here, he was in charge of identifying the targets, not player negotiations.
SLIMANI SET FOR FOXES We understand that Islam Slimani has been given permission to leave the Algerian national team training camp and will undergo a medical with Leicester in the next few hours. We believe the fee is around £30m. Sky 10.25
Cracking player you're getting there. Been following him a while. Perfect time for him to move to the Premier League. Physically he'll piss this league. Should take to it like a duck to water.
Adrien is training with Portugal this morning - an indication that he is not coming to us as otherwise he would be going for a medical. Ulloa looks to be leaving as well - hopefully will be for a decent fee to offset the extra we have to pay for Slimani.
Slimani is away with Algeria, has only just left for his medical in Bologna. Unless the clubs agree a deal in principal, Silva won't be travelling anywhere for a medical. Plenty of time yet....when you've got a private jet on stand by Swansea, West Brom and Brighton interested in Ulloa.
