We could (and probably will) do a lot worse than him.. But most importantly he'll have another job by the time Mick leaves us.. That's if he even does go next summer..
When I was a kid living in Cambridge back in the 1980's David Moyes was a Centre Back at Cambridge United. He used to coach after school football sessions and he coached me through my Coca Cola skills badges! He was a really nice guy and he helped me improve my game. He's a top bloke!
I'm sure he's a nice bloke but he was sacked by Man Utd, some Spanish Club, and Sunderland, 3 in a row isn't the best CV in the game.
This would appear to be a complete make or break for him.. He can't surely recover if he fails yet again. He seems like the absolute epitome of the term "busted flush" as he showed good promise at Preston and particularly Everton but his star has fallen massively since then and is currently a laughing stock amongst the countries football fans
Football managers have a fickle time living up to hopeless impossible dreams & expectations. Most get sacked, except Wenger & McCarthy!. I too like Moyes and believe he will have a good shot at with the Hammers.
To be fair the Man Utd job was a poisend chalice for any manager who had to follow Fergie and you can also argue that the side he inherited was in decline albeit they had just won the Premier League. His win ratio there was very respectable but the glory hunters wouldn't give him the time that Fergue enjoyed at the start of his reign. He was also on a hiding to nothing with Sunderland as they were always flirting with the drop and his squad was piss poor!
Good point Johnny but I think you'll find Prem managers salaries are way out of our league, Moyes was rumoured to be on £9M with Everton and that was a few years ago now. There's not actually a vacancy yet but lets go for a young ambitious successful man from a lower league Club when there is.
Knowing Evans as we do he will recruit an old has been who is out of work so to avoid paying out any extra compensation. What a truly frightening prospect that is and the old adage springs to mind "be careful what you wish for..."
I would have thought even a football ignoramus like Evans would have learned a little in the 10 years or so that he's been here, sorry just realised what I've said, in that case we will go for Woy who will have been sacked by Palace by then and we will pay him a fortune to f☆☆k things up as usual.
I think Slaven is a good manager. I'd like Darryl Clark off Bristol Rovers when we do go for a new boss.
