I don't care if I have heard of them:- those days are way back when. It simply seems that part of our incoming policy is that they should be limited somehow, either technically, physically or mentally. Be interested to hear Glory tell us about this Jordan guy who is coming from Leeds
I have seen a few worryingly deluded comments from fans over lunch. Any player we sign, even on loan, and certain people turn into an advert for Viagra. Look at the whole balance sheet before knocking one out about a loan who can't get into a very poor Leeds side - why can't people see what is happening - every move like this makes the squad weaker and weaker.
Too many people appeased by these ''great additions''. To think we had nearly £2mil to spend on a player and we ******* opted for Nabby Sarr. And now we're going crazy over a player who costs £200k and who's scoring total would be modest if it was spread over 2 seasons, let alone 7. I'll eat my words if he turns out to be another Yann, but what we needed this summer was a couple signings of intent and we've underwhelmed IMO. Some of the transfers carried out by other clubs have had me jealous.
I'm obviously not appeased but we have signed last season's League One second top scorer and the League One winning captain...
Don't think people are knocking Ajose or Pearce - that's the best part of our business. The rest is a waiting game.
Holmes looks the only decent summer signing. The rest are journey men, today's included. Stocking fillers.
My opinion on Slade as a manager after our first six league games is that he knows how to set up a team to stay safe in League One, but he lacks a second gear when it comes to actually getting promoted out of it. The away seating was near his dug out yesterday and it appears he bit a couple of times at comments that came his way from our fans. He certainly made a gesture to our fans when Novak scored. The question is - is 'steady as she goes' good good enough for Charlton playing in the 3rd tier of English football ? In my opinion, NO. Many of the wet blanket hand wringers are saying we have no right to turn up and beat these ordinary Northern yeoman and this is true ....but at least set out from the first minute to try to win the game FFS.
i'll be honest, i'm not impressed with slade. he's left better players on the bench, made awful substitutions at times and seems content with journeyman sideway passers of the ball - much like he had with leyton orient. we're charlton, we should be 2 or 3 divisions above that standard. we shouldnt have a central midfield that looks like it's running knee high in mud. our main tactic should not be lumping it up to the "big man". he should not have bought RD and KM's boooolsh1t about how they've changed and want to progress - they don't, we're a tax haven for RD and somewhere he's trying to asset strip. i'd have preferred it if every manager in the league turned us down to speed up the process of getting RD out.
Agreed. Slade has restored a bit of team spirit & camaraderie to the team, but not much else so far. We are going to struggle away from home this season. I see him as a Steady Eddy, brought in to deflect criticism from the other two.
We were on the train with a load of Orient fans ,they spoke very highly of him. I replied with that he'll get the bullet before the end of the season, these boys were clued up and agreed knowing that we get through managers every five minutes.
He made a point of saying afterwards that some fans were disgruntled at his substitutions but you have to trust in him.
