Wrong again KPR. Ryan Giggs made 15 league appearances in 2008-09 and scored 2 goals in the league. Overall when you add in cup and european places he made 23 appearances and scored 7 goals. Oh and by the way he also made the PFA team that season. Do you ever get bored being wrong?
This page here has the stats on both of them from last season: http://www.anfieldindex.com/2553/liverpool-fc-transfers-premier-league-winger-scouting-stats.html Young created a chance every 39 mins on average, Downing every 44. Downing's dribble completion and passing accuracy were higher, and he attempted more of both per game. Young's crossing accuracy was higher, though he attempted less than Downing. Young has the higher shooting accuracy, and shoots more often, while Downing has the higher conversion rate. Young has more assists. Goals were even. So you can see that there is very little between the two of them. To say one is 'absolutely tripe' while the other is brilliant is ill-informed. Both are very good. Add to this that at the time of purcahse Downing had 2 years to run on his contract, and Villa were already a winger down, and maybe you'll see that the £20m makes a little more sense.
