I don't suppose anyone is remotely interested but Leicester are getting well beaten by Ulster. Unlucky.
mate of mine used to play for leicester (tigers) now he's gone i really couldn't care less. Union is such a less exciting game than league most of the time. Aside from some amazing moments that is, i'll give them that
I was born in Hull and I have Never been to a rugby game, don't think my dad ever did either ... Yet we have seen hundreds of footy games .. just saying .... So I don't know where the Hull is a rugby city myth comes from ... The egg chasers maybe ... I did have an uncle who watched Hull FC ... He must have been dropped on his head at birth.. Come to think of it besides women's beach volley ball I don't watch other sports ..
I think it's because the Rugby club is more famous than the football club . You could say the same about Leicester, but the Tigers don't the crowds that we do, so I disagree.
The fact you use the singular term shows you're talking ****e again. Our classic piss take "Mauled by the tigers" takes on a literal meaning in union. Maybe we should allow them to use it for a token fee?
I was also born in Hull and have never been to a KR game, or an FC game, though I did once go to a rugby game at the old Wembley(I can't remember which teams were involved though). I went for trials at Ionians once and broke my collar bone in the first fifteen minutes, I don't think me and rugby were ever destined to be.
I'd love to see one guy try and start the 'mauled by the tigers' dance routine and see what happens at Welford road
Why? It's only those with their head rammed up their arse that can't see the self deprecation going on in that and the likes of the 'rah rah rah' chant. Watching the look on the faces of those that have been full of macho posturing when that's taunted back at them is priceless. It's a shame it's not had much of a run out since the arsenal game, but it still manages to snare the pompous self doubters, such is its power.
You're right, God forbid fans of other clubs having dignity. In fairness, if you support a club that's never won anything, you can't take yourselves too seriously.
...as I mentioned, such is its power. Looks like another one's entangled. Can someone take it carefully from the net, it looks too small, weak and feeble to be worth hauling in?
Luckily having won little (as opposed to nothing) means we have fans confident in themselves instead of some of the half wits that try to claim vicarious success from their chosen club to fill the huge voids in their life. I know which one looks the more dignified. What a sad world if you can't laugh at yourselves, especially when in your case there's so much opportunity.
Which has provided the most benefit to the world, Simon de Montfort of Leicester whose actions resulted in the House of Commons, or the City and County of Kingston upon the River Hull, which gave the world its first public toilet? Such was the high regard people from Gods own acres were held in, the toilets were built to collect the local urine were it was sold. See, we even get the upperhand when people try and take the piss. It's our heritage.
Urine was valuable commodity in Rome and it's empire. It was used in the washing of clothes as it is an excellent sherry trifle stain remover.
did anyone else just watch that? never felt that low in my life, it feels like that penalty shoot out to cardiff. worst performance i have ever witnessed. I never mind losing when you go down fighting, but not like that.
I don't think we do take ourselves too seriously. If we ever win the, compose yourself and try not to laugh, er League cup a couple of times I dare say we will take ourselves very seriously, very seriously indeed. We'd have every right to as we would be up there with the big boys. Just like you. We can but dream.
