Brundle had one last season for post race analysis. I think the BBC called it "a big screen TV." <ok>

I didn't like Croft at all. I'm sorry but I think I could have done a bit better than him today, most of all with the identifying of the cars/drivers, that was pretty bad but I hope he proves me wrong and improves :)

Spent half the race listening to James Allen on 5 live. Allen was great but David Croft wasn't. Thought Brundle was quiet today for some reason. I felt he worked brilliantly with DC last year and he also worked amazingly well with James Allen and Murray Walker. Important the David Croft partnership not turn into a Legard/Brundle partnership.

I thought Brundle did well as head commentator last year dont know why sky decided to push him back to the support role.

Had to laugh that sky and the bbc both missed button crossing the line and delayed the 'AND BUTTON WINS THE AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX' line

Isnt that down to the FOM?
I still think Sky had a much better coverage though.

Its not available for 8 days, but this website should have viewing figures eventually.

Edit: Seems The Guardian have already got hold of them. Not exactly spectacular results for Sky, but obviously we'll have to wait for both BBC and SKY to have live coverage before we can get a proper comparison.

The numbers might rise substantially for Sky next week, with the Malaysian GP starting at 8am (-1). It sounds like more Sky viewers might've turned it on when they got up rather than got up to watch it. Spain might be a truer comparison than China.

BBC figures have allegedly taken a dip but the real test will be the Chinese GP head-to-head.

To still get 3.2m is relatively impressive I'd argue...

China and Spain are Sky's make-or-break races I'd argue. <ok>

EDIT: I just realised how argumentative this post sounds. <laugh>

I've really enjoyed the Sky coverage.

The commentator does my tits in, don't know if it's just because he's new or I'm not used to him yet.

Yeah, I wouldn't disagree, it's just down on last year's live race whereas the Australian GP highlights show was marginally up on last year's live race. With only a two hour difference in start time giving an extra 1.2m viewers, this is why Ecclestone wants to push Melbourne into a night race.

David Coulthard really does my head in. His voice is so whiney <steam>

I don't mind David Croft, but I think that James Allen and Martin Brundle were an excellent partnership.

I have also been disappointed with Ben Edwards, I have been expecting better things from him with his commentaries from BTCC. He hasn't come alive yet, and I am still to be convinced that the parnership between David Coulthard and Ben Edwards can work

I'm a new convert to James Allen on 5 Live. Jaime Alguersuari is very good too and they work well together. 'Crofty', I can't stand though and Brundle now sounds like he's exhausted just listening to Croft.

Or conceivably Bernie could just go back to the European tracks that we know and love. A man can dream...

That interview he did before the season started - "We are not a European championship, F1 has fans all over the globe" - still rankles with me for this particular reason. Either you play to your fans in Europe Bernie or you accept it's a world championship, you can't do both. <steam>

I wonder if this will influence the Ofcom investigation into the Murdochs.
