Haha! Well spotted Cameron! I've not been back to the site to check on developments. I'd also like to take this opportunity to apologise for not knowing which side to bread my butter and contemplating an uncomfortable garden fence and wishing I was a bird and other things and and and yes; today I'm not a happy bunny! I think that the British F1 fan has been totally cast aside; a mere pawn in this corrupt game of other people's exploitative arrangements of (not for) us. It truly is a disgrace and I'm sick at myself for ever going along with the idea of subscribing in the first place. (Then again, it was not my idea so I'll plead innocent on that count). Perhaps Ben Gallop chose to allow it because I made a veiled reference to the alien he once employed?
the issue with delaying the showing for bbc users it we would have to spend each Sunday on Mars to avoid seeing the result before the race is shown.
Well I just commented in the BBC Editorial blog and the last 500 comments are awaiting moderation. 26 pages so far, not one positive comment that I found - although I didn't read all 26 pages! It's not just the BBC, most of us need to make savings in these hard times. I suggest a licence fee reduction commensurate with the BBC's depleted coverage. Then again, I could buy four licences for the price of watching F1 on Sky for a year.
I hope to see us all working together to find good streams for the races. Viewers will do nothing but drop, how long before sponsors complain and its free to view again. We may have a hard couple of years of pathetic coverage but I can see it being forced onto free to view by 2014.
Australia? Not many can handle a 7am pint, unless its an all nighter. Pub for the western races could work
The BBC will make criminals of us all, driven to watch illegally. I did point this out to Ben Gallop although I doubt he'll read it. The moderators can't keep up with the comments anyway: finally, revenge on the BBC mods - a-ha, ha, ha, haaaaaa... Seriously though, what's the other option? Be a criminal to watch or pay a criminal to watch?
Am seriously considering getting rid of my licence and TV, but for the fact they would try and nail me for having a computer even though I'd never use the BBC I would probably do it.
Do we hope the teams/sponsors refuse to race under pay-to-view rules. First team and sponsors to speak out will win many friends...
hope your right; like this year's champions league final, itv's coverage had over 90% of the uk viewing market share that night.
We should do an F1 tour where each member has to find a pub in the area that will show the race and we'll take it in turns to flock to their local to watch, resulting in much merryment.
Yet another quote about how 'F1 fans and their opinions' are important when actually, recent evidence shows that this isn't the case. Seriously, are they just sticking their fingers in their ears over this or what?
Mentioned this on Sarah Holt's blog but anyone remember that classic episode of The Simpsons when Marge ruined Itchy and Scratchy for all the kids (removing all the violence and fun) who then left their tv screens to play outside accompanied by Beethoven's 6th symphony? Itchy and Scratchy lost it's viewers and was ruined. I wonder if that is what f1 will become next year.
We better get a good internet streams thread up and running. Mix and mash to find the best streams out there.
If the BBC couldn't afford it, they shouldn't have paid over the odds to pull it away from ITV in the first place. Bernie is nothing but a money grubbing SOB. I'm sick of hearing people go on about how he made F1 what it is as he slowly manipulates it to further feather his own nest without regard for it's bread and butter... the fans. /end rant
