Yeah not impressed with Bernie, UK government (budget cuts) and BBC. I do have sky sports and will continue to watch. Bring on ad breaks, sh**t commentary.
McFerrari ! A blast from the past indeed: welcome to the forum. This is a great post to open your account. Clearly you have more insight than the average. It's reassuring to know that so many people are expressing similar views, albeit some less eloquently!
Here guys more news and reaction.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/sporteditors/2011/07/f1_coverage_to_be_shared_betwe.html
Haha of course! Back on topic, I urge everyone to look at those words of wisdom from Somewhat at the top of this page.
email EVERYBODY. I've done Cameron Redwood F1-BBC Barbara Salter Top gear BRDC BBC Trust (the Governors) FIA FOTA FOM Brundle - make a bloody nuisance of yourself.
Never thought this would happen because both FOTO and the sponsors want exposure to as big an audience as possible so I'm completely baffled and mad as hell that the sport has sold itself to pay TV for a fast buck whilst trampling all over its mass customer base that made a target in the first place !! Pay TV may work for football simply because as a football fan you can watch umpteen games every week. F1 is entirely different as it holds only 2 races per month so why would an F1 punter pay for everything else that is of no interest to them !! - F1 and pay TV are not a natural fit and this is where I believe SKY have miscalculated. Crazy as it sounds PPV may be a better option because at least then you could just pay for the races not shown on the BBC which I guess would be cheaper than year round subscription.
Hi McFerrari, Welcome to the forum, I remember you from 606. A great first post and I completely agree with you. F1 shouldn't suffer as a result of the cuts the BBC are making. If they were really that desperate to make cuts, they could remove so much trash that they broadcast, like the boring drama's and lame singing competitions. Even Top Gear is ridiculous now, smashing up houses on a "motoring" show. Get rid of Sarah Holt as well, all she does is drink tea in the Williams garage and then tweet about it! F1 doesn't belong on Sky.
Good post and I hope you stay on this forum . This might be rather self centred but what really annoys me is that BBC always seems to cut the good stuff and keep all the crap they show. I would be much happier if they did not broadcast 24/7 and kept the quality. This is quite interesting. EDIT: If the BBC want to cut the cost of F1 the why do they stop flying out Jake, EJ, Holt, McKenzie, and just fly out DC, Brundle and Kravitz? McKenzie and Holt are redundent and Jake and EJ can do their stuff from a studio.
You can get Identity Cloaker, which allows you full privacy to go onto illegal sites without the cops knowing. http://www.identitycloaker.com/
Some interesting reaction from Martin Whitmarsh about the BBC/Sky deal on AutoSport... http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/93494 Can't see for the life of me how this deal will increase "total viewership" figures though!
I totally agree. We've got two freeview channels (BBC 3 and BBC 4) which seem to do absolutely nothing. The only two programmes I have watched this year on either channel is Family Guy and Angry Boys and they are foreign made! So if we are to take the BBC's word it seems they think more people are interested in documentaries which seem to be about an ex Big Brother contestant trying out fake tits (BBC 3) or Alan Yentob walking around an art gallery full of his own importance (BBC 4). For sure BBC, for sure!
Because the British public have been conditioned by the establishment and forces which maintain it (Met Police, I'm looking at you too) which includes Murdoch, the government and its agency the BBC) to take what they're given. Oh, and pay for it too. The British public need to rise up and say this is no longer acceptable.
the thing that bugs me that ever if the the non-bbc races are broadbast a few hours later, is sky is saying this is still a good thing non-sky users, then how comes they don't show highlights of theier events hours after they happen for free.
