Sky Bet have suspended betting on who will be the first Premier League manager to leave following significant backing for Steve Bruce to go.
The pressure was cranked up on the Sunderland boss following Saturday's 2-1 defeat to struggling Wigan at the Stadium of Light, prompting the online bookmaker to cut Bruce's price from 11/4 to evens.
Despite Bruce insisting he had a no intention of walking away from his post, punters have piled in to him going next in Sky Bet's Manager Specials, adding to the speculation the Black Cats are set to switch bosses.
Bruce made significant additions to his squad during the summer transfer window but they have failed to live up to expectations, sitting 16th in the Premier League, just two points above the drop-zone.
Sky Bet's Tim Clement said: "We naturally saw quite a bit of money for Bruce to go from Saturday afternoon onwards but initially assumed it was just a reaction to such a terrible result for his team.
"However, some of our shrewder punters have also got involved despite the significantly-shortened price, prompting us to suspect trouble could be brewing for Bruce.
"It might be a nice relief for Steve Kean, who was finally knocked off the top of the market despite his side Blackburn going bottom of the table as a consequence of Wigan's win.
