I understand what you're saying but Rafa is here currently and he doesn't want Mbemba and Mitrovic. These are the two assets that have significant value in the market (possibly Gayle too), and while Rafa is manager we have to back his judgement and what he wants. If not he'll leave anyway. I'm with you, I think it definitely weakens us. However if that is what the manager wants, then the club should back him. Be it on his head if it doesn't work out of course, but I'd rather allow a manager that freedom than cut him off at every pass not allowing him to do things in his vision. Looking at the recent accounts, we are not swilling with funds. Say we have £40m available, if we bump that up to £70-80m selling players he is not going to use anyway, that could be the difference between another relegation fight and a reasonably comfortable season in mid table. We have to look to make progress and trust the manager to achieve it.
*older - I just turned 29 over the weekend and I feel super old but glad you didn't argue with limited I get backing the manager - just not for those players - If we sell Mitro and get Rondon, I'll be calling for Rafa's head when we have three strikers who manage 8 goals between them next season. I'd sell Mitro and Mbemba for Kenedy at the drop of a hat btw. If Hernandez, Dost and quality players are coming in I'll piggy back Mitro to Craven cottage, reluctantly. But Skrtel and Rondon can **** right off along with Rafa for me if that's the players he wants in.
Yes but what if that is his plan and Rondon fires a **** load of goals as he is ideally suited to Rafa's needs? Surely the end result will justify the process even if that does seem unlikely admittedly
Then I'll eat my humble pie with a side of clotted cream please. Like I say QUALITY players - no dramas them coming in, and Rondon is just a link, the one I'm worried about is Skrtel who is old and useless (4th choice at best) to us but seems to be moving closer to stealing a living here by the day, another Gamez waiting to happen but will demand big money - probably more than Mbemba was/is on.
I’ll admit I’d be worried but then this is just paper talk. We barely heard about Lejeuene prior to his arrival.
