It is but you can learn to stay upright, do some basic turns etc. I'm picturing in my mind everyone whizzing about going up and down the mountain with smiles on their faces and you will be at the bottom falling over and not liking it. Maybe I'm wrong, I only went once and it was 28 years ago.

I can see that too mate. I may take a look at XScape in castle ford as they have an indoor snow place there. May be worth getting my tantrums out of the way before I go. Lol.

Skiing is great. Did it once when I was 15 at howtown in the lakes. You'll be flying around after a couple of hours. We only did it for a day and at the end of the day we were going over jumps that we had made.

Skiing is fun as hell, I've been twice and they were two of the best weeks I've ever had

    Hi Albert

I've skiied there. Great place to learn as the easier slopes are like motorways and the frogs build their chalets out of concrete with big ****-off central heating systems so you're nice and warm. Buy your booze before you get to the resort as it's really expensive there; just leave it on the balcony to chill :) And there's a restaurant half-way up the hillside where they do torchlit ski processions down to the main resort. Don't get involved! It looks easy, but that slope's a bugger for beginners. Otherwise, just enjoy it and you can get as pissed as you like. Going up the mountainside first thing gets rid of your hangover pronto!

Thanks mate. We are all inclusive with club med so the booze is prepaid. A quick question... in the town are there a few boozers... and what’s the nightlife like?

There's boozers all right, but not cheap! Stuff you pockets with bottles to average out the cost. Nightlife is there if you want it, but the ski crowd often hit the sack early ready for the next day...

Would love to give it a go to be honest but looks canny scary. Just give it a go mate, best case you hate it and can put ya feet up and get pissed for the rest of the trip, worst case you smash both your legs and you can put ya feet up and get pissed for the rest of the trip. The way I see it, either way you're getting pissed up !

I went to Mayrhofen with school when I was 14. Good fun. I had my honeymoon there 14 years later. That ended up not going so well <laugh>

It will be a terrifying prospect at first. Then you’ll get a handle on it, and really start enjoying yourself. However if you stick with it for years and years it gets boring and you start trying crazy, risky things to get the thrill back.

...wait, are we still talking about marriage or skiing?

In France twice, while at school. It was better (funnier) the first time when no one could ski competently.

Me too .......................... learnt to ski at Willington Dry Ski Slope and went to Innsbruck for a week. Three things stick in the memory .................... firstly it was bloody hot even though its cold. The sun reflecting off the snow makes it really warm, plus you are wrapped up in your waterproofs ......................... secondly a Michelle Jackson collided with another kid and broke her forearm ....................... and thirdly one of the teachers, Mr Riddell was caught shagging a woman from County Hall, who was accompanying us on the trip ............................... or so Simon Andrews told me anyway ................. and he almost always told the truth <laugh>

Basically I was part of group tuition and one of 7 students.

I have no balance and twice the instructor said I should think about leaving the group and going for private tuition. She spoke little English and at one point called me stupid (**** of with the jokes hah).

Confidence dented and suffice to say I couldn’t even plough (snow) by the end and I had a downer on skiing.

Day 2 I looked into the cost of private ski instructors and it was 165 euro. **** it i thought and paid. Had a great tutor in damien (a French lad who supports Lyon).

Suffice to say after half of the day we were whizzing past my ‘group’ Doing stuff they weren’t. I was even confident at speed (I’m a pussy) and starting to understand turning... he said he wanted to get me to turn like Cabaye rather than Sissoko :)

I’ve ****ed the group off now and got Damien in tomorrow as well but whilst i’ll never be a ‘good’ skiier. I can at least get about.

I heard a rumour that i’m Up on the big runs tomorrow..... ****ting it.....

But he has a secret weapon.... a hip flash of Rum :)
