FFS Pictures of curries on a menu, classy. It wouldn't be so bad if said curry didn't look like the leftover sludge from a top floor jumper.
There's a really good Indian takeaway locally and they have a hot curry club section of the menu where you can have a Phal or a choice of other hot currys they have 1 that uses the Jolokia pepper and one with Carolina Reaper. I'd love to try them but I wouldn't want to order a whole curry as it's not getting eaten.
I used to be terrible with hot food, then I had a housemate for 3 years at uni who ****ing loved cooking and loved spice. Everything he cooked was coated in chilli powder/cayenne pepper and chopped up chilli. Was only after I started cooking for myself again that I realised that I was now ****ed after eating this food for so long and I am basically the same. I can eat a phal but in my experience (of a massive 3 phals from different places) they don't really taste of much and they are just trying to make it as hot as possible so it isn't tasty, I do like the heat though. Haven't ever tried eating the super hot chillis raw though, I have Carolina reaper hot sauce that I mix in with my eggs or rice.
If the food is too hot and spicy, you can’t taste it, and you could be eating a dog turd. Perhaps that’s what Skiddy is after?
Most Asians argue the exact opposite. They think the food has no taste unless its very spicy. My Mrs travels with a bottle or Sachets of Sambal (spicy chili sauce) and makes her own at home. Nobody would eat at an Indonesian meal if its not served.
